ok the part # i got is 709200151. This is for the connector that blew our on the spyder in the parade. From what you describe, it was the same event. Sudden and rapid coolant loss, with white smoke coming out from the right side. I was right behind that spyder and when I saw the white smoke I started looking for the fire trucks that had gone in front of all the spyders.
We got that spyder off the road, pulled the pannels off the right side, filled the coolant bottle and all the water went right out at the connector.
The picture i see is the thermostat housing.:dontknow:
Did you see where coolant was escaping from Cap or Overflow would indicate a bad thermostat or did coolant bottle split both easy fixes...
Freebob....:doorag:
Thank you for the information. I have passed this along to the dealer to order that part. Probably couldn't hurt to replace the thermostat as well.
It is, that is where I saw all the coolant collected, but I acutally didn't see where the coolant "exploded" from. I'll be testing that tonight.
The coolant bottle is intact.
Thanks all.
The Kewlmetal intake is the one I have, http://www.kewlmetalstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=5_43&products_id=401 You will hear intake noise so you should listen to someone that has this setup but I like the sound and all the space around the engine it gives you and it is a 4 bolt design unlike some others. So I got a chance to tear her down today and investigate. Seems that there was a very loose hose clamp connection just above the thermostat. I am going to replace the thermostat, the clamps, and probably at least one of the hoses. The leak did not appear to be at the inlet/outlet connector.
I also decided that I DO NOT want to put that stupid airbox in there. What are my alternatives???

I couldn't find the Evo filter system. I do like the look of the KewlMetal one, but $250 was a little more than I was looking to spend. I guess this will have to wait.
Both sound good to me. Any issues with having the oil from the crankcase blow-by going directly into the throttle bodies?

If RSshrimp wants to give out his secret, he has a truly awesome Airbox setup he designed, that looks fairly easy to do; while at the same time reduces the excess noise along with taking care of the other issues or concerns mentioned. Maybe he will see this and post up some pics
I'm just waiting for his invite so that I can head over to his location and he will install it for me..heheh!
