• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

6,000 members...

:agree:with all of the above...............6000 is a mighty number. My thanks also goes to Lamont for running is great site.:2thumbs::firstplace:

What I noticed when I started logging on here is people are nicer here than other site. You do something that were not in taste of others, people will trash you over there. A lot of people were acting like some people do on an online forum. Just because you don't see them face to face, they would say whatever they wanna say, call them names and redicule them.
Funny thing is, courtesy must be contagious. Same few people who did that over there did not do it here!(some have same login name) may be the different atmosphere here prevented it.
Other site was still much larger when I found spyderlovers but I found myself logging on here more and more til I finally stop checking out talk.com

There may be 6000+ members but many more just sign in as guests. If you check "Who's Online" most of those are guest logins. The peak number of people logged in at once was on 4/22/11 with 1016. This is definitely a popular source for Spyder information. :firstplace: Just hope we don't run into bandwidth problems in the near future.

Most people here don’t need policing most of the time. But we can all have our days, some more than others! Lamont just does not allow the kind of practices you’re talking about. We can disagree here but it needs to be civil. And that is contagious. I’ve started a number of replies, reviewed them and either edited them back a bit or deleted them altogether.

There are plenty of places you can go if you want to fight.

Even then there have been times I’ve overstepped the boundaries. If you think I get special treatment from Lamont with my posts, you are mistaken. I’ve been to the woodshed once or twice!

It is Lamonts website and he knows what he's doing. I've not found another like it. I think he does a superb job. Lamont makes It look easy but believe me, it's a lot of work.

We have a great combination of good leadership and a super bunch of people. The ones that can’t play nice in the sandbox just go away.

Thanks Lamont!

Lamont has had to bump the bandwidth up several times on this board. It costs more and it is a huge headache as it means changing servers, sometimes changing services, and always glitches and down time.

I think now he runs 2 systems at the same time for awhile when an upgrade is in the works. That way he can switch back to the old system if the new one crashes.

:agree: And the people are just as nice in person! At spyderfest it was easy to just start talking to anyone and you would get a warm reception. I was by there by myself but was never alone. I asked to share a table for dinner one night :chat: with a very nice couple and we talked like we were long lost friends.

I would also like to take the time to say thanks to Scotty (Nancystoy) for all the expert help he provides to us. It's like having our own onsite mechanic :firstplace:.
