• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Suggestion for new members.

If the new members specify a location and their privacy settings allow it, it would be nice if the announcement in the new members selection specified where they were from.

It would be interesting to see at a glance if any of the new members were close to existing members to help building local communities of Can Am owners.

the info is there, in the new member area of the forum. When you look at the thread you will see (Welcome to SpyderLovers, @name.) Just place your cursor over the blue @name. to see the info. For regular members that post place your cursor over their name or photo / avatar photo to see the info.

Yes, just I thought when you get a list of like 10 or more members it would be easier just to scan down the list. It's no matter, I just thought if were an easy change it might be helpful.

Thanks for the replay.

Ok I see, you are suggesting that the new member location be added to the thread title in the new member area of the forum so the title would look like (Welcome, Namehere from someplace, UT). Maybe that would be possible, I don't know for sure. Admin program person would have to check. I will send a hey look at this. TY, mecsw500

Yes, that's what I was thinking. I think it would be cool, but only if it's easy to do. I don't underestimate for a second all the work you guys put into offering this brilliant forum as it is, without me throwing random suggestions into the mix, lol.

Thanks again.

I like the idea, as I just click through them to get them off my "New Posts" page.

Didn't the old forum software list the persons location under their name and avatar? If a person does not want that info shown they cound just not enter it or enter just the State or the country.

The old platform did show that, and this Platform does too, only here/now on this Platform, you need to click on a member's Avatar to see it, or look at the public bits of their Member Profile. ;)

Besides, while we really don't want to see people putting in their street address or anything too specific (because of the risks sharing that with the World poses) all members, new & existing, really SHOULD put at least their State in their Profile's location field, and they effectively HAVE to put something in there anyway (but any crudities &/or inappropriate comments/jokes will be removed without notice, and could impact upon that member's ongoing posting privileges, too 😖), so by entering at least the State they live in; maybe also the general Region in that State; and especially if it's not the USA (which is, after all, where this Forum is located :)) their Country too, a member can only make it a whole lot more likely that they'll get helpful responses to any questions they might post. It's simply a basic courtesy to other members, and failing to do so may cause questions &/or issues with a member's ongoing posting privileges, largely because, as many members have found thru bitter experience, any other member, new or old, who hasn't shared at least the State they are from, &/or any member who has tried to hide where they're actually from, often isn't here with the nicest of intentions! :(

So yeah, new members really SHOULD put in their general location, the State they live in, and their Country (if it's not the USA), and for any who might be interested or simply want to minimise any concerns, be aware that the location info entered can be seen by all, simply by clicking on their avatar, so don't be too specific, just give us a general idea of where you're from. (y)

Just Sayin' ;)

Goes along with signature info containing ryde info idea. & whatever happened there

Some do that, many still don't!

But what's that old saying... Oh, I know - 'You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink!' 😣

Not even if the horse is an entire Stallion; you're standing right behind it with a brick in each hand; and you've already checked that your thumbs won't be in the way when you clap said bricks firmly together around a pair of certain hanging appendages! 😖

Sad, but...
