• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

3 and Out

Jeriatric

Thinks out loud
Three summers is all it could take. Not unlike either of my autos. Batteries just don't live long in these temps.

Anyone ever heard this? Was talking to a friend and he tells me BMW recommends not leaving their battery tender on for longer than 36 hours at a time. Not sure what would make theirs different from others. Other than price :roflblack:

This is good advise. We don't use one but newer batteries have like memory. If there is no fluctuations they loose the ability to fully charge. I would check the voltage and Connect when needed. Jmo and that of some battery guys...

I always figured that cold weather sapped the life out of them...
Sorry to hear that you guys are in the same boat; only for different reasons! :gaah:

For what it's worth:

:ani29:: My :spyder2:'s are usually parked in a heated garage from October through March. When the snow comes to my road, they are parked, when it melts, I ryde.

:ani29:: I hook up a "Battery Tender" (brand name) to each of the :spyder2:'s. It stays hooked up the whole time of the "big sleep".

:ani29:: I still have the original battery on board my 2010 with 35,000 miles. That covers four rydeing seasons now.

:ani29:: The :spyder2:'s always turn over and start the first time in the spring. I follow Scotty's advice and do not start the :ani29:'s up in the interim.

:ani29:: If I keep my 2010--I will probably opt for a new battery in 2014--just because I think its time. Now getting thoughts of "what if the battery does not start the :ani29:.

My ZX14 battery is the original from 2007. Pull it outta the bike and put it on a battery tender every winter (pretty much all year when I'm working overseas); until it's time to ride the next spring.

Time to eat a large helping of CROW.

Haven't riden the spyder for a while. Been using the KTM.

Long story short. Thought the spyder was spining slow during cold start. It was not - perhaps my ear isn't what it once was. :roflblack: Ya think :roflblack: Battery tested fine, including, load test.

Crow, is cheaper than a new battery. :opps:

Look at it this way; being a little bit wrong on this didn't cost you ant money!
Glad to hear that your battery is okay! ;)

2008 GS original battery... On Batt Jr tender since 6 months after I bought the Spyder. Thinking about replacing it this winter just to make sure it is reliable this next season... Then again, If the 2015 ST's have the 1300 ACE in them... Might as well chance another year.
