• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

20K service

I have a 20K scheduled in a couple of weeks and asked what the cost would be and they said it depends on what it needs I understand that just wanted a ballpark of how much it usually cost. Anyone had the service done that could give me a cost estimate, not looking for exact cost. Looked at the service manual and it seems like it is going to be expensive, changing out all the fluids, spark plug, and air fliter change, plus whatever else is needed.

Thanks

Charles

A little more information might be helpful. Which version of :ani29: are we talking about here? Different service levels for two cylinder vs. three cylinder. Have not heard of a specific service at 20K. Regardless--don't let them sell you a "valve check" service for $800 plus. Not needed. Are you looking at your manual or just listening to the dealer?

Since you were looking at the RT Gas Door thread and no info on your profile

Since you are new to the forum, and viewing an RT thread I will assume that you have a 1330 RT and say that you should be maybe up to the second oil change? I don't remember the service intervals on the 998 Twins, but maybe you could be looking at an oil change and air filter service. I don't think we changed out spark plugs till maybe 28 K or so. Previous suggestion that you don't need a valve adjustment is probably valid until 40K? Guessing at a lot here....

A 998, and it is from the owners manual at 20k miles.

Just do an oil change/filter replacement and a check over. That may determine any further items needing attention. Skip the valve check recommended at 14K if not already done. I have 28K on my 998 and it does not need one. Your cost for oil change/filter/checkover should be about $300 - $350.
