2023 RT Engine Noise - I'd be hard pressed to recommend them!

I purchased a New 3 miles 2023 RT a couple of months ago. At around 1650 miles I noticed a little noise started when throttling it up just a bit, the oil was changed at 3000 miles, and it was checked at a dealership for the noise before leaving to ride the Natchez Trece Parkway. The noise got worse and started happening also between 1 and 3 gears.

I took it to the dealership, and it has been there going on 5 weeks now. They found metal in the oil but said it could be normal break-in. They took the engine apart cleaned it out and put it back together. They test drove it noise still there. They had to have an independent inspection done, BRP now wants them to tear the engine down for a second time, they told me that it was on the schedule for two weeks from now. This is to just start the tear down. I feel a brand-new bike with 5000 miles on it should get a new engine at this point and they can take this engine and play with it at their leisure.

It's been in the shop longer than I had it and is not coming out anytime soon. They said another week if they need a motor and back of line again. I'm making payments on a 32k bike that I'll be lucky to get back after a couple of months in the shop and may or may not blow up again down the road after the warranty due to the unknown damage done by this issue and the metal in the system. I believe they should have dropped a new engine in after they discovered the spicy oil and had no clue where it was coming from.

I've missed numerous rides we had planned for this summer, including riding with my son before his deployment in a couple of weeks. I would be hard pressed to recommend these bikes to anyone.

I totally agree with you on this one! The motor and trans should be replaced no questions asked, but in the real world as it stands right now that will probably not happen and that's too bad.

This sort of stuff is going on with everything these days; cars, trucks, recreational toys, everything we touch; corporate America don't seem to care about the right thing to do, which is to keep the user happy!!! There is something going on with that motor, and something has or is letting go! A smart business would cut their losses and put a new one in to get you back on the road ASAP; then let their tech team rip it down and find out where they went wrong!! I wish you luck, hope they get to the bottom of your problem.

Really a bummer situation, especially for your first post as a member. Keep us informed.

Wow, that REALLY sucks! I feel bad for you.

Have you checked out the lemon laws in your state? You should investigate this. Do you have an attorney? If so, I would give him/her a call and see what they have to say on this subject.

Why they thought cleaning the debris out of the engine would stop the noise is beyond me. Unless they found the damage and repaired it. No way the noise was going to change. That was a waste of time.

Sorry to hear you are having these problems. They should replace engine first thing, then they could do whatever to the bad one. Do they even have a person with the knowledge to tear the engine apart and do an inspection? The finding of metal suggests the whole engine needs to be completely taken apart and cleaned from top to bottom. You cannot get it clean any other way. We spend hours cleaning our race blocks and you would be surprised at how much stuff we find, even after hot tanking them. Good luck, hope it works out for you.

They should also pull the oil tank and lines and clean them, even if they replace the engine.

Warranty items have a tortuous path that usually requires the dealer to open a case file with BRP and the dealership follows the directions issued by BRP until the process is diagnosed and resolved. It is frustrating but it is not unique to BRP. Hopefully your problem will be resolved soon and you might ask for a no cost extended warranty just in case the problem wasn't fixed this time.
