I purchased a New 3 miles 2023 RT a couple of months ago. At around 1650 miles I noticed a little noise started when throttling it up just a bit, the oil was changed at 3000 miles, and it was checked at a dealership for the noise before leaving to ride the Natchez Trece Parkway. The noise got worse and started happening also between 1 and 3 gears.
I took it to the dealership, and it has been there going on 5 weeks now. They found metal in the oil but said it could be normal break-in. They took the engine apart cleaned it out and put it back together. They test drove it noise still there. They had to have an independent inspection done, BRP now wants them to tear the engine down for a second time, they told me that it was on the schedule for two weeks from now. This is to just start the tear down. I feel a brand-new bike with 5000 miles on it should get a new engine at this point and they can take this engine and play with it at their leisure.
It's been in the shop longer than I had it and is not coming out anytime soon. They said another week if they need a motor and back of line again. I'm making payments on a 32k bike that I'll be lucky to get back after a couple of months in the shop and may or may not blow up again down the road after the warranty due to the unknown damage done by this issue and the metal in the system. I believe they should have dropped a new engine in after they discovered the spicy oil and had no clue where it was coming from.
I've missed numerous rides we had planned for this summer, including riding with my son before his deployment in a couple of weeks. I would be hard pressed to recommend these bikes to anyone.
