• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2021 RT Ltd - what's the Ticking Noise After Shutdown?

I have a 2021 RTL that makes a ticking noise comming from under the dash that doesn't stop. It occurs when the bike is shut down. I'm not getting any codes but it sounds like something is constantly being powered. I disconnected the battery leads and the ticking noise is still there. Anyone know what could be the cause. The only things I have added is the halo skid plate and 2Bros slip on exhaust. Thanks

The only thing is after riding I go to the bike after 3 days and it's still making the ticking noise.

Temporarily disconnect any electrical add on, (lights etc.), if it still makes noise get it to your dealer!

You say that you removed the battery wires and that the noise is still there, not sure how that can happen. Remove them again and wait for about an hour and then see if the noise is still there. Does it do this no matter where you park it? (Just trying to rule out some other outside noise)

I will try removing battery leads for an hour. It happens everywhere I park.

So I found the issue. As the saying goes, check the obvious. I have a leather dash pouch, when I emptied it the ticking stopped. I had an old plastic case that appeared to be expanding and contracting. Took out the case and the ticking stopped.

:roflblack: Glad that you found it.

Just curious about your 'plastic case'. What was it used for? Glad you solved the problem. ..... : ).

That's crazy! Who'd a thunk.

the ticking noise on my 2021 f3t limited is happening when I am moving. I have owned 6 different spyders and this is not the typical noise that is in all of them. It is coming from the right side. I have less than 200 miles on it. very annoying noise. Its not a normal noise. thank you

Sorry…….. but are you asking for help with a problem, ndf? It’s hard to tell from your post……. If you are, I would suggest you start a new thread for it. Buried halfway through someone else’s thread, very few members are going to see it……plus it is not good form to hijack someone else’s thread

It sounds like a heat shield cooling off. It's quite common with any thin metals when the cooling and start to contract.
