• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

how about some pricing? I would like to see what is MSRP and trade in prices etc.

Trade in prices are all over the place. I went from $10,500 at one asswipe of a dealer to $13000 at another. And he let me sell the seat and hitch, fender for another $1200. Tremendous difference! $3700 just for going to the next town. Better selection, friendlier people. Got $1,000 off the new bike. I was going to wait, but would have lost trade in price once rebates came out. :thumbup: Tom :spyder:
 
Right Tango, that's my story as well. I have Spyder dealer ten minutes from me, those folks were impossible to deal with, went to another 'friendly' dealer 70 miles away.
 
Pricing and trade-in values are so market driven and variable by area I honestly don't see much use in comparing.:dontknow:
 
Trade in is painful, no matter where. Maybe that’s how we have 4 bikes! I have to get busy, once we get home, and move some out. Luckily, I know I’ll lose my shirt up front, so I can prepare!
 
The "magic" trade in price is somewhere between the kbb wholesale and kbb suggested retail.

Trade in is NOT the only thing to look at though. There are OTHER factors such as MSRP, options to be added, getting a discount on the options, getting a discount on the install, a special deal on the extended BEST warranty, financing rates...check around--the dealer is not always the best way to go. Look up the term "dealer reserve." At year end...various rebates can kick in.

And, don't pay freight and set up fees. They are part of the MSRP. A great add on by dealers to add some extra mark up on their side of the deal.

It all depends on the dealer you choose. We all know there are good ones, and not so good ones.

Some of the above items, you get a good deal, some of the above you get dinged on, and some you wont get at all. THEN...you look at the OTD price. That is what counts in the end.

I posted a couple threads about my latest purchase. I ended up going to two dealers...one in my area and one out of state. The out of state one was the winner this time. I got no satisfaction from the local dealer this time. Theirs' was the price and there was no budging. I saved $3K at the final dealer.

We completed negotiations on my wife’s new RT limited this morning. We have purchased seven bikes from this dealership over the past two decades so I’m fairly comfortable being the aggressor. I left the salesman with an offer that I knew was over five grand less than the MSRP he quoted but I wanted to see what he would do with it.

Predictably, he called to tell me his boss felt we were miles apart. We then went to the showroom and I raised my offer by three grand. Still no play from the GM. This time I sat in the meeting with the salesman and the GM. We had about $2,000 worth of options in the deal with another $400 in installation costs. I told him we would walk away unless he would waive those costs.

It took a while but we ended up with the dealer waiving the cost of the options if I would pay for the labor to install them. I quickly agreed. This was a cash deal so the dealer made no margin on financing, service agreements or warranties.

Remember that dealers have several profit centers operating....showroom sales; financing; Parts; ervice agreements; warranties; insurance; accessories and labor. You may get a deal on one but they may make it up elsewhere.

I think the dealer made a reasonable profit on our deal but I left happy and didn’t feel taken advantage of. The Atlanta market is very competitive but is easy to get ripped off.
