• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 2014 Accessories Catalog & Radiator Guards

Is there a download for the 2014 Accessories Catalog? Can't seem to find it on the BRP site.

For those that have a printed version, is there some sort of 'Rock Guard' available for those two Rads sitting open right at the front of the new RT?

Thanks, John

There was a demo 2014 at our clubs year end party. Looks like that area is a leaf collector and will need to be cleaned periodically. ( for areas that have Fall!) although they do have a factory screen, I personally would like to see something more like a grill to protect the rads from any road debris that might fly in there, though I realize that would block the all important air flow!:dontknow: Besides that I really like the upgrades on the 2014 and the sound is nice!

Well if the fans on the 14 are sopose to reverse when the roadster comes to a stop or is in traffic. Then that should clean the debris off the radiator. Lol yea right!!!!!

The aftermarket will come up with a set of pretective grilles... :2thumbs:
In the meantime; try not to run over any small dogs! :yikes:

I don't think they are any worse leaf collectors than the radiator and oil cooler on the earlier RT's. One thing is for sure, it isn't as far to reach in to pull out collected debris. There are protective screens, BTW, just like on the earlier ones.

covered

i am surprised that with all the knowledge on this site a novice has to answer your question. when in traffic or moving slow the fans are made to reverse and blow the leafs and bugs out of the radiator

Well you can at least download the 2014 owner's manual...

I will give that a try. Would like to see an advance copy. Thats what I did when I was waiting on my 2010 RT.

Update: got the operaters guide printed out--no problems. Still can't use the build a spyder function for 2014 though.

I've been waiting for that one too!! :gaah:
Oh! Did you notice that the payload capacity for the Base RT has dropped to 494 pounds? Wasn't it 525??

Did not find that--but do remember the previous weight limit at 525. I did notice they are now talking about a break-in period for the first 3000 miles. No full acceleration, if the fans start running, pull it over and cool it off, Avoid prolonged riding--all from page 56 of the new manual.

If they really expect this, they had better offer the 'pre broken in' option for southern climates. If you sell a bike in the south in the summer there is NO WAY to ride it without the fans coming on. Are they just looking for a way to void warranties? That one is going to cause quite the discussion as the bikes show up next year.

And exactly how do you know this to be factual for a bike that you've not even seen yet?
They doubled the capacity of the cooling system; why not at least give them a chance to hit the road before you spout opinion as fact? :gaah:

Is it possible to set up the current fan on the 2013's to do the same. Just a question?

fan

with the new bike the fans are right up front but with us there is way too much plastic between the radiator and the outside of the front end so i doubt it. but i am not a expert to really comment on it

It would have to be programmed into the Spyder's ECM, and that might not be possible with the existing code format. In addition, the fan would have to be suitable for reverse operation. It might be possible externally with an appropriate "little black box" and some additional sensors, but it sure wouldn't be worth it, IMO.
