• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Got mine in the mail yesterday. Now it's wait and see what they will do. I haven't had much of the heat issues. I do get the gas smell on occasion, but it hasn't been a real problem for me though. I just hope the recall works out for all parties involved.

Got my letter last Friday. Now we wait.

Have the heat problem as well, especially in the seat. That has to be fixed!

I have received mine as well. Does anyone know yet exactly what the repair involves? I have done so many modifications to mine that it might not apply to my bike. I would love to get some new vented panels though ...

I too have made modifications and am curious to see what their fix is. The added venting panels would help mine even after the mods I haven't heard what their solution will be.

It sounds like you and I are thinking the same thing. If the BRP fix is something that I've already done, then I'll skip it. If it is something that can enhance what I've already done, then I'll have the dealer implement the fix. No matter what it is, I have no regrets with not waiting and fixing things myself.

Relief!

Got mine for '13 RTS.
For those of us not mechanically minded, but still worried about our Spyders flaming up, it is a relief to see that BRP is stepping up to correct and make repairs. I had already figured out that sitting in traffic with the engine idling was probably asking for trouble, so avoided traveling any place that scenario might occur. As others have stated, I hope this is not just a bandaid repair, that might lead to other critical parts failing sooner from displaced heat.
One can hope that they took this much time to come finally come up with good solution and not a cheap piece of tin foil over a gas tank. If so, I applaud them for doing the right thing, not the cheapest just to keep ntsb at bay.

Just got my letter also. Does anybody know exactly what the fix is? Also, have there been any engine fire incidents? Wife and I are still riding our 2013 rt and though hot not unbearable. I removed the vent wings just below the handlebars as soon as I heard and ridden a short time with a major heat prob. Aviation background told me diverting air from those grills could no way help a heat problem. Took them off and as I said hot but bearable. Keep riding my sweet spyder until the fix comes in.

Not knowing the fix I can't figure where they would put vented panels that wont heat up the riders as well. CanAm pretty thorough company though and fair I have found. They building a large transport jet to challenge Big B and Airbus presently so maybe couple of those engineer, production, QC guys will help us. Wouldnt surprise me, Spyder getting more and more popular. Great ride!

Bombardier sold the recreative division many years ago. New company was name BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) and is independant from Bombardier.

The fix wiil be known in next may. Even here in Quebec, many Spyder owners try to have information about the heat fix but without success.
