• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

No, according to the dealer, the 2010 does not have the updated 2011-12 equipment. If you installed whatever equipment was updated, it would.

Now That just BLOWS...... I could really use BlueTooth

Our 2010 PE is already becoming obsolete...
all we got for taking the leap of faith was embroidery on the seat (which is about to be replaced with a Corbin):(
 
Thanks guy's. Installed the adapter on Sunday and it went well. I believe all it does is hook your garmin mic into the intercom circuit at the CB radio. You do not have to key the mike to talk on the phone. Works great. Was able to get to the lower plug without loosening the side bag. Just remove the cover near the hand grip on right side to get to the plugs. thanks again. Bob

Do you have to have your garmin hooked up for the bluetooth to work? I never have it on the bike unless going for long trips.
 
Thanks, removing that from the bike everytime I stop somewhere is a pain. It would be stolen in about 2 seconds if I didn't.
 
Here's what the cable looks like

Received my Cell phone Blue Tooth interface cable P/N 219 400 390 today. Installation looks fairly straight forward as this Cable ( see picture) connects to CB module lower connection and microphone connector plugs into GPS cable. I will post update after I complete the install.

Does it matter which Garmin GPS one has? I have a Nuvi 765, but have yet to put it on the RT. I ordered the BT adaptor and am waiting for it to come in, but I'm gonna be :cus: (not too happy) if I have to purchase a Zumo just to be able to connect my comm system to my iphone.
Had I known how limited the CB and Comm systems were, I would have never paid over $1500 to have it installed and would have just purchased another Scala headset for my passenger. :banghead:
 
Just got off the phone with my dealer and in order to have bluetooth phone capability, you have to have the CB, communication system, audio package, and GPS navigation harness installed. Well, I guess that leaves me with connecting the old school earbuds/microphone to my iphone because I am not going to spend another grand for a GPS unit that I'm only going to use for phone calls. It's really too bad that BRP has yet to bring this futuristic looking vehicle's electronics into the 21st century. :( If all of the helmet communication companies out there can make small boxes that attach to helmets with bluetooth/radio/weather band capabilities, I don't understand why BRP can't integrate something similar into the design of these machines.
I absolutely LOVE my :spyder2:, but for the price, they should include more updated convenience features.
 
Has anyone tried to install the bluetooth adapter on a 665 harness?

By the way, I did install the adapter on my 2010 RT. It did not work. However, I called Carlo and he said it should work and to take to the dealer so they and BRP can figure it out. Well, the got the GPS to helmet sound fixed so why not. I called the dealer and I will take it over there this coming Tuesday.

I can't get my adapter to work on a 2010 either.
If you get a solution, please post it, as I'm very keen to get mine to work also.

After further review with the BRP Technical staff, Carlo has determined that the bluetooth adapter WILL NOT work on 2010 RTs.

stevedfive was the pioneer, and I just followed his lead.

So the cell phone adapter WILL work with the 2010 radio. The original BRP installation instructions were incorrect. Here is what worked for me:

2010 radio and antenna
2010 CB and antenna
Entertainment harness
Garmin 660 with GPS cable
J&M Headset(s)
2011 Cluster update (PTT fix)
Cell Phone Adapter (installed correctly)
CB ANTENNA GROUND STRAP.

It seems the system requires a second ground from the CB antenna directly to the frame/battery. The story, as I understand it, is that the CB antenna is grounded through the CB radio and that is insufficient. If the CB antenna is grounded directly, all is good.

I'm wondering if this ground issue is also the cause of some people's poor CB performance?

Thanks ThreeWheels, but I was just persistent in addressing the issues of getting the GPS to the helmet and the bluetooth adapter to work on the 2010 RTs. It was our dealers (Malcolm Smith Motorsports, Bert's Mega Mall, and GSS Powersports) and the BRP Reps and Techs (Carlo and Giovanni, to mention just a few) that really deserve the credit and the thanks. BRP and our dealers have took care of us again. Looking forward to meeting you in person someday my new friend.

Here is an update to the Cell Phone Adapter

Thursday, on my way up to SITA, I received a phone call and my caller couldn't understand me because of all the static.
Sometimes I can make clear calls, and sometimes they were full of static.
It turns out to be a simple fix.
When planning a long ride, I would connect the phone to a car charger using the 12V power supply in the trunk.
Whenever I did that, the calls had static in them and it was difficult for me to make myself understood over the phone.
If I run the phone off it's own battery the calls are clear. All I need to do is make sure the cell phone battery is charged before I leave on a trip.

RECAP:
Using the BRP designed 12v plug causes interference (same problem with my 2010 RTS SE5), and;
Not using the BRP 12v plug things "work as advertised" (same "fix" for me on mine).
Additionally, once "plugged in" my SE5 sends a whining sound thru the helmet (Nolan Trilogy with NCom) when shifting in either direction.

For the price of these bikes, EVERYTHING should work as BRP has advertised without adding an additional operational issue.

Maybe my years in aviation have tainted me with certain expectations.....like things working as advertised! BRP has an aviation division and I cannot believe that division would have released a product with a "communication issue" simply caused by a pilot plugging their headset into the aircraft (the FAA would have grounded the entire feet until it was fixed because pilots need to talk to air traffic control....bikers not so much). The fix could be as simple as adding an additional bonding strap(s) between the communication modules and the frame or a filter to handle the induced static. Either way a fix is needed from BRP so their product works without causing interference when used how they designed it to be used.

We've got a version of the Scala Rider wireless coms that are a few years old--mostly used when we're out on the ATV's--but they will sync-up with bluetooth anything easily, and have wired accessory input as well. Took a phone call while on my motorcycle and the guy on the other end thought I was sitting in my living room. Would like to have the newer, higher power version but don't want to spend the $450. Yeah, we bought a very expensive machine in the RT-S, but not all of us are having trouble figuring out what to do with excess cash. Just sayin....
 
I have a 2010 RTS with the CB, XM, Entertainment Harness, Wired intercom & GPS.... and with the 2011 cluster (which did indeed fix my "sticky" PTT CB Transmitter)... I was hoping the new 2011 cluster would enable the Bluetooth adapter to work with my wired intercom, and it sorta did:

It DOES work, if and only if:

I'm parked with the ignition on, and the engine off... and am willing to have my telephone conversation play out over the speakers (even though the setting has the speakers "off"). I hear through the wired intercom just fine, and the VOX and ability to talk to the person I'm calling works fine...

Once I start the engine, there is a bunch of "static", but I think it's really more like digital drop-out... kind of like there just isn't enough bandwith capability on the Electrical System's CAN BUS (or whatever) to manage the voice traffic along with the running engine and other vehicle systems.

I can, at least, make calls without having to take off my helmet, I just have to pull over, hit the kill switch, and I can place or receive calls....

One day I'll get a newer RT (although am still very much in love with my 2010 (24,000 miles)), and will bring along the bluetooth adapter to that machine.

Until then, am still Smylin and Rydin!
