• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

200mph?

Folks, someone was looking over my Spyder today and asked how fast it goes "since the speedometer goes to 200 mph". I never really noticed the top reading on the speedo. Anyone know why they picked such a ridiculous top speed on the speedo? I don't think any of these models could do 200mph fired out of a cannon, so........:hun:

It can also show KPH (kilometers per hour). So, 200KPH = 124MPH.

Good Question

Good question. I would sure like to try. 115 is as fast as I have ever dared.

Change your speedo to km, then you will see why. As far as i care they can delete the analog one as I use the digital display. I did switch over to km just to see the analog one move.

As mentioned above, when the speedometer is in the KPH mode, it is necessary in order to record KPH speed. For those who want to top out the dial you have to be going over 120 M PH--which is about 200 K PH.

The fact that we can change modes came in handy when we were in Canada. Drive the speed limit signs and you do not have to worry about math formulas.

Also a fun trick to play on an unwary passenger. Run it up to 65 or so and the speedo will register over 100.

All of the above...

dual scale guage. Older vehicles don't have the ability to change over and they read in one or the other with both speeds printed......

As far as I am concerned, its a design defect from a canadian company that considers us sales as an afterthought.

The analog speedometer is nearly useless on these bikes for the US. The scale should have been dual numbered using the appropriate scale with the primary digits shown for the country of sale. IE just like every other international OEM does. Look at the speed on your car. MPH in large numbers, secondary scale for KPH as well. The labels are opposite when sold elsewhere in the world. How much could it possibly save BRP to stock two different speedo face plates to cover the world wide sales? Its just a printed plastic disk. They have a number of other parts that are different in different parts of the world. So, to save BRP less than a buck, you get a speedo that is next to worthless where you ride 99% of the time.....

I voiced this opinion at the owner's event and they claimed no one else had complained. At the time I told them the owners were too busy complaining about getting burned on the 2013 RTs.

TEENAGER

WHEN ASKED BY A TEENAGER IF I EVER HIT 200 MPH, I TOLD HIM THAT I CHICKENED OUT AT 186...... :roflblack:

The analog stretching all the way to "200", is just there to impress the ignorant onlookers... :D
Use it to your BEST advantage!

Its funny that parking lot gaukers usually notice the speedometer right away. It adds to the Mystery.:yikes:

IMHO if BRP could cut their cost by one cent they would jump on the opportunity... just look at the quality of OEM tires..

I didn't even realize the speedo WASNT dual-tagged with mph/kph. I just assumed it was hence the reason for the question. I went out and looked and sure enough, just ONE scale, so this now makes perfect sense. These forums are awesome!
