Finally got some more miles on the Gold wing and now I can make an unbiased comparison. First of all, the Spyder is much easier to pull off the road when out sight-seeing and picture taking. I have to look more carefully at the pull-offs for loose gravel and stuff with the wing. As far as MPG goes, the Gold wing wins by far. From Florida to Franklin N.C. the wing got 49 miles per gallon, pulling the new Honda 226 trailer, which looks surprisingly similar to the BRP 622. I live 9/10 miles up a twisty gravel/paved road and the Spyder was much better for this area. The wing is just a little too heavy to make this comfortably. As far as comfort on the road, with stock seats, the Gold wing gets my vote, but not by far. Add the Corbin like I did on the Spyder rt and it is a toss-up. Stereo use and quality goes to the Gold wing, but cruise control goes to the RT. I was never a fan of the lack of handbrake on the Spyder, so for me, braking response and quality goes to the wing. As for fit and finish, they were close but the paint quality on the wing is a little better. I had the peeling issue on the Spyder after just 1 year. Storage, the Spyder takes it with the huge front trunk. Rain riding, what can I say. You can't beat the stability of 3 wheels, so the Spyder wins big time here. Towing, the extra size of the Gold wing engine comes thru. Never noticed the trailer in the mountain roads and no need to downshift like I did on the RT.
All in all, 2 totally different rides and both are great at what they do. Guess its just a matter of personal choice. Just my humble opinions here.
