• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Getting closer to finish the Silver Dream project (after 169 days); replace the OEM brp battery with the Ballistic Li 3 lb 500CCA:

WOW !!!! 3lbs of train power... and the size is small as compared to the OEM battery or it's replacement.

Looking forward to the finish and a ride that is way over due.

I knew it. 12 of those and he is making an electric spyder. Pure torque and power and Forrest to tow him if he cant find a place to recharge the batteries.

If I wasnt intimidated by the cost, and wanted to install 2 of these, what would I need to do? That way I could run all the powered suits, lights and domaflatchies I wanted...

Just wondering :)

To be honest, I am not sure, I obviously have some reading to do. I was thinking 2 batteries would allow me to run a multitude of lighting and any other possible mods that require power (heated suits come to mind since it is winter), GPS, Radio, etc...

I thought initially that 1 battery would be dedicated to the bike and 1 to the mods, but some of the lights wont allow for such items if they are wired to do things like be active with the turn signal. However, anything like the halo lights I have could rock off the other battery and the suits / radio / GPS since they would be functional on a separate battery.

Im just thinking outloud. So feel free to shoot me down, obviously I would want to charge both, and that might require something I dont understand because I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to mechanical items, hence why I hang out here and watch videos, read, and attempt to understand!

Thanks

You have the right idea. Running two batteries in parallel would be like adding a larger fuel tank to your battery. The voltage would stay the same but you would have twice the storage of juice. Now you have to decide how you want to replace that juice when used. I went with an isolator that made sure my starting battery was charged first before giving any charge to the spare battery.

This leads me to believe you have 2 batteries installed, and an isolator. So I would need 2 batteries, an isolator, and run them in parallel. Is the battery that doc has here the only battery that is "half sized" to get some love in the same location, or are there other "hidie holes" in the spyder where a secondary battery could live?

I am sure there is probably another thread somewhere I could be pointed at that might address this.

On another note: Doc, sorry to be jackin' yo thread.

Doc is stiring the pot!!!!!

However I like the Idea of the two working off a single chargeing system.. Question is... Why the isolator ?
