• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Progressive Insurance

I have had homeowner's, auto and MC insurance with Progressive for many years. Rates aside, I can tell you that when I totaled my bike, Progressive paid the impound fees in 3 days and paid me for the bike in 10 days. Also, they paid me more for the bike than I could have sold it for. Good...

Overheating on 911 America ride in Washington DC HELP

My wife also has a 2008 GS. She has ridden in parades, stop & go traffic, etc. during 100 degree Texas summers and never had an overheating problem. I think you have something going on. Maybe low coolant, old coolant, empty/cracked reservoir? I can't say what the problem might be, but...

My wife has the same bike in the 2008 model. I think it sounds like a great deal, assuming everything is good with the bike.

    Home made GPS at Spyderfest

I would think any tablet running Google maps would do the trick. I do the same thing with my phone, but the larger screen of the tablet would be better. I assume the person had a data plan since they downloaded a map app.

Going to be a dumb question but . .

2 days ago I saw a girl on a side street riding a yellow scooter wearing a full face yellow helmet and a full body yellow leather suit and then I saw a rider on the interstate riding a crotch rocket wearing a full face helmet, shorts, tennis shoes and no shirt. I considered one of the two to...

    Fuel light

I know the last time I ignored the low fuel light, I got 1 mile from my destination (gas station). I don't know how many miles I rode, but I sure know how far I walked. Best to fill up before that light comes on!

    Aftermarket gas cap

Just curious Coz. Does your cap have a black or red gasket? Red is the "latest greatest". We got a recall notice 3-4 months ago to replace the gas cap on our 08.

    REAR Wheel Wobble

The rear wheel bearings went out on my wife's 2008 at about 30,000 miles (48,000km). Metal shavings on the rear wheel speed sensor let her know pretty quick. The dealer replaced them under warranty. Warranty or not, he said that shouldn't have happened.

Temp vs Bars Here is a post from 2009 by Lamonster showing temp related to the number of bars. As you will see, 5 bars (when the fan kicks in) is about 197 degrees. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?13512-New-temp-gauge-with-bar-readings&highlight=lamonster+gauge

New Spyder Owner with Questions - 2009 Silver GS

While you are looking at everything else, you might see if the evap canister is still in it and, if so, does the vent hose extend either down to the bottom of the bike or out the back. This was a recall issue at one point in the past on some models. If it is gone, great. If not, below are a...

Helibars installed. Frunk and Seat will not open now HELP!

Glad you solved the problem, but something doesn't sound right. I installed the bars on our 08 several years ago and had no issue. Maybe a design change?

Anyone else get a Re-Recall notice?

We got one for our 08. Didn't say anything about the hose, but I did the canisterectomy (sp) a long time ago.

    Louis Powersports

They are a 1st class outfit. I bought my 2013 Suzuki BOSS there (yes, they sell other things besides Spyders ;)). They beat my local dealer by $2000 and it took me about 30 minutes to test ride it, do the paperwork and ride away. Jason was my sales guy.

    New to "Spydering"

Congrats on the new ride. I got about 11k on the OEM rear tire and that was pushing it. Put a car tire on the rear and have about 25k on it with plenty more on it. I believe I replaced the front at about 28k and went back with the OEM tire.
