• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Prospective Spider Owner

I agree on the long demo ride, however I did not take the opportunity at the time and just did a short one but I was sold. My first long ride came when I rode my new STS home 50miles. No problems just have a wingman just in case. Goes to show how quickly you can get on a go with no prior...

Finally got around to wiring and mounting of Gadgets, Radar Detector, Tender & iPhone

Detector is for my car mostly I ted to go a tad over at times and I like to be aware of traps. I honestly find it more of a tool to control my lead foot rather than a tool to allow me to abuse with my lead foot. I will move it to the STS when I need to I don't nearly have any speed issue with...

    long trips on ST's

My STS at 10500miles and no major troubles been on about 3 longer trips for about 600miles round trips ea. never had any problems for heat issues. All in the 80s to 90s temps. The only heat issue I had was the bike sitting out in the sun off all day I usually use a half cover but forgot to...

First time install of wiring to battery...

I'm about to get brave and get into the Spyder for the first time. Let me make this clear this is the first time doing something like this period. I never work on motorcycles before, and I rarely do my own car maintenance, although Im more at ease dealing with a car. What I'm doing is simply...

    New ST Limited Stalling

I have 10500 on my STS, I stalled more often when the bike was newer in the 4000 mile range and more often when I would start and go on my way without a warm up. I started to let the engine and temp get up some before I go now and have not had a stall in a long time. It is hard to nail down...

    Terrible gas mileage with ST

I verified I was getting about 30-32 mpg at the 60-65 range after that forget about it and enjoy the bike! I notice it sucks up gas when I ride aggressive 75-80 and more to get around folks but that's expected. Verify it does as advertised at lower cruising speed and don't worry on it. Sent...

    Back rest or new seat?

Yeah, I compared the RS and ST stock seats and the ST is a bit better but still not great for long rides, I don't know how the RS folks put up with it. I have to say a backrest alone would be helpful I lean back some times in the seat and feel immediately better however I lose the grip I like...

    Back rest or new seat?

I have an STS I'm also thinking the same I know I need something but not sure yet. I will focus on my posture and try to figure it out, however I have a much longer time before I'm feeling it. My limit is 4 to 5 hours with only 5min gas stops. At 5 hours my rear and thighs are on fire, with...

The biker's "CODE" of friendly hello's? NOT today!!!!

I'm not the first to wave I usually wait and see if I get one and I always return the wave if I do. I have to say 90% of bikers wave the Spyder. Notice how if two Spyders pass each other it's like a celebration on the highway much more than just a wave :p On the age thing it's true many of...

    Thanks PawPaw!

I was able to get it back on my taking apart the light, putting it in place then reassemble the light, it's holding but there is still a broken tab and cracked retainer on the bike side, but it's holding its own a couple days now at highway speeds no glue or tape. Dealer estimate is $101. About...

    Thanks PawPaw!

Father in law just jacked up the bike a week before Spyderfest. Not too bad the rear signal light on the STS. Backed into the bike right at the light I see no other damage. Going to dealer anyway Tuesday for 4600 mile check hopefully they can fix it quick. The light works just the retain...

    Night Ryding Glasses

I just got the pair of the smoke bifocal sunglasses from bikershades.com and I'm liking it so far, look a feel good and the 2.00 lens is exactly what I needed. I have not gone out on a ride with it yet but so far so good. I use 2.00 reading glasses only, not really a big deal don't have to have...

    MPG ON 2013 ST

I had concerns also until I did my first long trip. I filled up and went 130 miles and still had 2 bars left on the gauge I estimated I still had enough for about 60 miles or so. I did not go into math on it, or watched my speed it was just how far I can go before I felt I need to fuel up again...
