• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

long trips on ST's

Good to hear

It good to hear about all 13's without any issues. I am now almost considering a left over to save some cash.:dontknow:

Running Good

I just got back from a two-day tour of northern Minnesota checking out the fall colors. Left Wednesday at 11 AM, got back last night at 5 PM. Did 330 miles on Wednesday, 411 miles yesterday, saw temps up to 80 degrees, never had a heat issue on the Spyder whatsoever. Complete non-issue. That is 3,740 miles since August 26th, other than the rear tire being bald down the middle all is well. I love this thing!

Did they perform the recall work on yours yet?
If so; what did they find up under there?

We have heard such differing reports on these 2013 bikes...
Has anybody been able to take a real close look at a couple of bikes side by side; one with issues, and the other with a happy owner??
There's got to be something physical that is making the difference!
Finding it though...

My STS at 10500miles and no major troubles been on about 3 longer trips for about 600miles round trips ea. never had any problems for heat issues. All in the 80s to 90s temps.

The only heat issue I had was the bike sitting out in the sun off all day I usually use a half cover but forgot to cover it that day. I went out and tried to start it and it would not and had a heat error for got which, but yeah the whole bike was just baking in the sun and was very hot just sitting out there, other than that temps gauge always in the 4 to 5 bars never a issue on the road yet.

I do feel on very hot days the heat more on my right leg and feel the heat from under the seat when I stop for gas but never cause any issues.

Build date?

I wonder if the build date has anything to do with it. My ST-S has a build date of 05/13 so it is a later build date. Has anyone noticed if the early ones are more prone to heat issues than the later ones? I lined my upper left panel with insulated heat tape the day I brought it home, and then insulated more things as soon as the recall info came out, but never really had any issues at all other than simply noticing the left panel being warmer than on a 2008, and the gas cap was warmer to the touch than on a 2008, but nothing obscene. I still chalk it up to the CAT location, that seems to be the most logical. And then when we consider how some have ghost white spark plugs and how the EPA keeps twisting the knife I would tend to believe it is a lean condition that makes some bikes hotter than others. That is still my best guess so far.
