I second that. It sounds like BRP fixed a lot of things that were wrong on previous models (especially 2013RT) and even improved many things, like a battery in a frunk and a dipstick under the seat. Good luck to you, my friend. I'm sure you'll be very happy.:yes:

first year for this model. Yet great improvements. So far all reports are from prototypes. But all in all looks like a great roadster. :dontknow:

Given the myriad of problems on the 2013's, you may want to wait awhile until the 14's have proven themselves reliable. The 14's do look very promising given all the improvements.

Hard decision. The 2014's (on paper) seem to be the best RT offered up yet. If they work as advertised--it will be a sure thing winner.

The new 2013's have many issues and most would now shy away from them. Suggest you read the thousands of posts and make up your own mind on that subject.

I purchased a first year (first ever) :spyder2: (2008) and the first year RT-S (2010) Premier edition. Other than small issues which were quickly solved, no problems that would cause me to not recommend the product.

As it will be your first, definitely try to find a dealer that will let you do a test ride before committing to a purchase. Also, with the 2014 coming out, there may be some demo rides in your area.

if you're new to riding, the learning curve won't be as long as if you came from years of two wheeled riding. just keep in mind a fifteen minute test drive may not give you enough time to realize the excitement and love of the ride. if there is a place that rents spyders, take a day on one before you commit. it just might be worth it.:thumbup:

Before you buy. Take a nice LONG demo ride. Not 15 or 20 minutes but an hour OR two. Ride it in the suburbs, town, city, back roads, and highway. Start, stop and drive it in heavy an light traffic. Before you do that read Illinois Boys info for new riders you will pickup a lot of good information.

When I took my demo ride I was gone for two hours and I rode it everywhere but in the surf at the beach. I drove a new one home and I had not ridden since 1996.

I agree on the long demo ride, however I did not take the opportunity at the time and just did a short one but I was sold.

My first long ride came when I rode my new STS home 50miles. No problems just have a wingman just in case.

Goes to show how quickly you can get on a go with no prior experience. You will get to know the bike better and cornering over the first couple hundred miles.
