• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Cooler for SE5 trunk

That's a great idea! I'm sure I've got a few leftover rain covers from earlier rides stashed somewhere in the garage...:2thumbs:

    BRP hard bags

Competition Accessories has the color panels, at least black and silver, for $94. My dealer wanted list -- 129.99 for them so I said no thanks. Givi V35 is the same as our R35 bags. I don't know why BRP ships the red reflectors with the bags and not with the panels, since the reflectors are...

thanks for posting this. I just pruchased the BEST warranty 3 years for the same price that Bert's is offering, but form a dealer in Hayward, CA. Just wondering , now that I have it, what is the phone number for the roadside assistance??

    Lane Splitting

well, we all know about opinions, but whatever... I've ridden in CA for 30 years. I've split lanes on occasion -- only when traffic is stopped or damn close to it, or at traffic lights ( behind the CHP cycles!!) Anything other than that is crazy. I must say I don't miss it on the Spyder...

I also got a new engine, last September, luckily just before the dealer folded. Hoping the new one lasts...

    Stock Exhaust - adjustment/baffle?

I thought my stock exhaust was too loud also.....until I discovered that it wasn't connected correctly. The exhaust manifold where it attaches to the engine was loose. Once the dealer fixed that, the stock was unbelievably quiet.

RJB -- what is this "budget" thing you talk about? I am not familiar with this concept as it might apply to motorcycles....:D

    Survey Question/Riding Habits

90% solo, 8% with my son and his Boulevard ( but he doesn't like my long rides), 2% with my wife, who, of course is the reason I got the Spyder. Only been on a few group rides. Depends on the company. As my handle implies, I like to remain below the radar...

Route 66 trip in May 2010

On Mon, May 17, add Afton, OK to your list. There is an old DX gas station now restored as a museum with lots of old Packards and other neat stuff. Also, nearby are a few original sections of 9-foot-wide Rt 66 that you can ride thru the fields... Your Day 6 and 7 needs to add the mileage from...

    Mileage on rear tire.

14K on the rear, still going on the original front tires at 24K. Might try the gForce next, but so far lots of tread left on the second rear tire.

Route 66 trip in May 2010

Good luck finding the Bug Ranch. I never did find it. All good spots. Don't forget stopping in Seligman to see the Delgadillos' barber shop and store. You're timing this right. May is a good time to go through the desert areas before they get all 100=degree'd up.

    "Spares" for Route 66 trip

I did US 50 CA to MD, then Rt 66 from IL to CA. took no spare anything. Never ran out of gas and had no problems the whole trip. got service before I left and again when I arrived back East. New tires are 14000. Only luggage was T-bag on the trip East; then I sprung for the BRP Givi bags...

International Cycle show - San Mateo

Yes, we had a fine time. Spent about 20 minutes at the Can Am booth. Then wandered the show -- luckily, I didn't bring a checkbook or credit card, so all the other bikes I wanted were safe ( for now). Thought the RT was pretty fine for a touring machine, but it also looks too heavy/more like...

Slime is supposed to draw only 3 amps, but I've seen many reviews where they are infected with shorts.

Bicycle pump or air compressor ?

Just stay away from the Slime compressors. Blew my power port out the first time I used it -- now I only plug it into my wife's car!;)

Saddle bags... Who has them lets see them

Love my BRP bags. Lots of room, easy on and off. Went cross-country on them with no problems. I also like that the entire rack mounting frame comes off super-easy. If I get another bike, I'll take the Givi's with me since they make racks for most newer sport bikes. pics at...
