• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Gas Guage problems

I had a similar thing happen last summer. The gauge would only register 2-3 bars when the tank was actually full. I was on the road at the time so just kept track of mileage until I could get to a town with a dealer. He pulled the instrument cluster, cleaned the contacts and reseated it. No...

    Sypder's Handling

tuck your inside elbow in and pull, and slide your butt off the seat to keep that inside wheel on the ground. Visualize those videos of sidecar racers and you get the idea! It is a lot more physical than simply leaning a two wheeler over. In those "S" curve you will get a workout hopping back...

    Helmet air conditioner needed...

check out #59 also. I tried them out and at least for AZ where the humidity is in the single digits, they work great. Not sure how they will function in humid areas. You can invest $16 and try it... or wait till August and we hit our rainy season and I'll update.

new more efficient fan from brp

Another possibility would be to install a manual switch to turn on the fan whenever you find yourself in traffic and/or running hot. I believe Big Arm did this. Perhaps he, one of our more talented members could generate a "how-to"???????:dontknow:

    High $$$ seat alternatives?

I had my seat recontoured and covered at a local upholstry shop for about $250 (Had the Bimmer done for $100) and use the Beadrider in warm weather to keep the cheeks cool. Swear by it.

    Hot Weather Gear

Try the LD Comfort headliner. It's minimal risk (only $16) and from personal experience, it works. (especially effective with lower humidity) Just wet it, wring it out and wear under the helmet. I use it under my Multitec. With the vents open I don't even crack open the shield unless I'm in...

Maybe 2 wheels again for me....

Why not a plan "B"?? That's what I did so I could keep the Spyder (Had the same feelings about 2 wheels). Pick up a used 2-wheeler for 3-4000. I snapped up a '00 R1150GS, but there are bunches of used bikes out there that might fit the bill.

    Summer Mesh Jackets --Pros/Cons

ld comfort trial OK... I saw the video, thought what the heck, give the sleeves and headliner a try. Got them yesterday and just came back from a 55 mile ride in 97 degrees. THESE THINGS WORK!! Couldn't be happier. Almost too cold at first, until I regulated down the air coming in my...

    Summer Mesh Jackets --Pros/Cons

Mesh or Tee Depends on what I'm riding and how far. On the Beemer, always a Joe Rocket Phoenix, helmet, gloves, mesh armored pants. On the Spyder I'm a bit more lax, sometimes jeans (never shorts), mesh jacket on longer rides, occasionally just a long sleeve white tee on short hops. (always a...

    Colorado-Texas Trip

CO to Corpus Made the trip from Tucson to Corpus a few weeks ago. Past El Paso at Van Horn, I took the Rte 90 (2-lane) through Marfa and Del Rio, then cut across 173 just before San Antonio to I-37. On the way back, I took I-37 to I-10 and home. Rte 90 is OK, but pretty sparsely populated and...

    Daytona and DPS problems

sounds like he's blowing smoke! My DPS went as soon as the software updates were installed. A new DPS appears to be functioning, but I don't have too many miles on it since then. My personal opinion is that many of the early DPS units were bad. However, BRP, instead of doing a blanket recall...

thought I was dodging the DPS bullet

Finally picked up Spyder today with the new DPS. It is abundantly clear that my old DPS never worked at all. The difference in the new one is like night and day. Took it out for 20-30 mile run before loading it on the trailer and it handled silky smooth. Now just keep your fingers...
