• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

High $$$ seat alternatives?

Anyone have an opinion on the seat gel cushions? Believe me, I'd love to purchase a nice Corbin or similar but that's a lot of jack for an accessory. For sure in the future but I'm looking for something just a little less expensive in the short term. It appears when using these it for "recovery" of a seat..not so much for just providing extra comfort on new rydes. I could be wrong. I just can not justify that much cash on a corbin seat right now and looking for something that will suffice until I do pull the trigger on a nice seat. My butt needs a break...

Here's some I've found with a quick search

Iron Pony Sheepskin
Several versions
Saddlemen's

I had my seat recontoured and covered at a local upholstry shop for about $250 (Had the Bimmer done for $100) and use the Beadrider in warm weather to keep the cheeks cool. Swear by it.

I have used a BeadRider for years and love them - easy to add & remove, fits multiple bikes and is cheap ($35). You may snicker at the thought of comfort from wooden beads, but I would try it first. I use mine with my Corbin seats.

This is especially true for those that live in hot/humid areas.

Gel cushions

Two years ago, I took a trip to Longmont, Colo. in July. To make a long story short I bought a H-D gel pad for $100 from some dealer along the interstate, used it for about 100 miles. Didn't notice any difference in the comfort. Stuck it in the saddlebags and still have in the garage. I shelled out $100 for nothing. I now use a beaded seat pad that cost about $20. I guess what I'm trying to say is, try to test it out before you buy. No one pad works for everyone. If anyone wants a large H-D padyou can Pm me with an offer plus shipping.
You should be able to Google "Air Hawk"

:agree:
I picked one up in a truckstop on the way to Colorado last week. Cost me $15 and covered the entire seat. It made a world of difference and was not the least bit uncomfortable.

Airhawk is good, so is sheep skin

I was using my airhawk until I got my BRP comfort seat. I'd sell you mine but sometimes I still need it when I ride as passenger w/ HDX. But the airhawk is awsome! I also bought a black sheepskin and it looks pretty cool on the Spyder. Very comfy. But I had to put it away each time it rained. Maybe people ride w/ those things in the rain but I don't. It came pretty large and I draped it over and cut it to my liking. Was around $60 I think? Got it here:

If you get the deluxe BeadRider it comes with a NYC Hack licence.:roflblack:

What size AirHawk for the RS? Medium Cruiser? Large Cruiser? Those are still a pretty significant investment at almost $130 plus shipping. Is it really worth it over just replacing with the new BRP comfort seat?

I used it when I had the stock BRP seat. I don't need it w/ the comfort seat.

When I'm with HDX on his Harley then I need the airhawk sometimes. Depends what seat he's using. If he rides w/ his low profile seat than that means take pain killers before I go w/ him and bring my airhawk. also when riding to eat, make sure restaurant has alcohol cuz I'm in pain by then after being on that seat. If he puts his cushy old farty stock seat on then my butt is fine but the seat is queer looking and it's not comfortable for him - it bothers his back since he's not scooped in like if he was using the low profile.

Forgot to add and it won't let me add at work: I have the medium cruiser seat - fits the front of the Spyder seat just fine.

I have a gel seat which also cost about $100 bucks. Its noticably confortable for about the first 50 miles--but then it don't work for me. I would not recommend spending $100 for a gel seat.

Airhawk is TOTALLY different than a gel seat. It is totally adjustable - fill it with however much air you want. Very sturdy. I've had mine for 5 yrs now.

Just sent back a gel seat

It was 140.00. That little bit of extra height threw me off and I didn't feel that I was connecting properly with the seat anymore. The comfort leval was not worth 140.00.:doorag:
