• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Making the 2013 Spyder RT-S "Perfect"

I really thought the ECM update was going to be a huge help with the heat issues and as the outside temps started climbing the same old issues returned. I did feel the engine ran smoother but who cares if you can't ride it because of heat and fuel smells. Based on your findings with the maps...

    Adventure in wrapping exhaust pipes!

The left side pipe being the longest puts the most heat under the plastic but to be completely honest with this, it's all wasted effort unless you like the quieter motor. Wrapping the pipes will only help a very small amount in getting the heat under control.

yesterday i was thinking, and thinking costs me money

A lot of dealers will not install the ISCI hand brake for liability reasons, so that don't surprise me

Wet front Trunk on my new 2014

Yes but that was for water getting into the fuse boxes themselves not the frunk. However sitting still that is about the only place water could get in there... :dontknow: maybe the fuse box covers are not properly fastened?

yesterday i was thinking, and thinking costs me money

John didn't your 13 have pegs? The floorboards are way nicer to deal with than you think. You need to get some seat time and see for your self. If you had boards on your 13 then never mind and feel free to experiment all you want, trying nothing is wasted time is what my dad use to say.

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

Congrats John on the new 14 coming your way! With all the good feedback on the 14's it should be a great choice for you to dump the problematic 13 and just move on. Sham it had to come to this but you was WAY MORE forgiving than me spending all the money you did to try to fix it. Hopefully you...

    Come On BRP...Really

The harsh truth is that Kenda can't even make a good bicycle tire! If there is any bike riders on here they will know what I'm talking about.... Kenda tires are like ink cartridges that come with new printers that work great but they are not gonna last long.

    I'm back riding again!

    I'm back riding again!

This is what I bought to ride as the 13 RTS is sitting in the garage under cover. This is a clean 2005 Honda VTX 1800. I was not looking forward to going back to a two wheeler but the price was right and it's a nice running bike, the exhaust is way too loud but I'm currently looking for...

Summer is back - yes boiling gas again :(

prevents knock... not causes it. I think you know this but your wording reads wrong.

No more knee and thigh cramps!

I hear ya! I'm 6'4" and 290 lbs. as well and another issue I had is the windshield height. I can still look over it with it all the way up, problem is with it that high it rattles really bad.

How long should it take a BRP trained Spyder technician to install brp HD headl

Ask to see their flat rate book for changing headlight bulbs and it should only be slightly higher to wire in and mount the transformers.

    Master Cylinder Heat Shield

See the wires going back to the brake switches in this picture, I have the sleeve melting on my bike right above the master cylinder.

    help with tri axsi

The Tech Spark manual has wrong info in it unless they fixed it! It has you taking the wrong bolts out to remove the headlight pod. That whole pod comes off with four bolts and some wiring connectors and the headlight adjustment cables. Don't forget to pull the glovebox back or off first.

    Shocks adjustable?

Like Drew said the adjustment "stop" is not welded to the shock body so adding the adjustment collar is not an option for the factory shocks.

    Black Clutch Fluid on SM5

What does the owners manual say about the time frame to replace the fluid? If I remember right it seems that it was an early replace then longer thereafter, but mine is an auto.

    Adjustable handle bars

Worth every penny! Lets you set the bars exactly where you want them. Big problem is the cost getting them installed unless your handy with tools. I did mine myself and took me about 6 hours or so with no manual.

My Attempt at the Fixing the Horrid Fuel Smell

But notice in that picture there is no heat shielding on that tank! That's because on the 14 models they solved the heat issue of heating the tank by getting the exhaust away from it! The only reason that canister is back there is because there is no room to put it back near the engine because...

Well it was fun while it lasted but i'm moving on!

Moral delima Well my wife just brought up a valid point that I need to consider... how do we sell this to somebody else knowing there is an issue with it that could cause a fire?? Could that possibly come back on us since there is a history with these things? I think I need to seek out somebody...

Well it was fun while it lasted but i'm moving on!

Put my 13 RTS up for sale this morning. I have had all I can stand with this thing and it just is not worth the stress level from the lack of support on these things. Factory don't care and dealer don't care so it's time to move on. If I want to enjoy riding then I need to get a bike I can enjoy...
