• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need help with poor running RS.

Also you thourghly check the following A common problem across the spyders is a failure in the vacuum hoses at the throttle body. BRP used rubber that cannot handle the high temps under the plastic. They eventually dry out and crack. This leads air leaking into the intake and screws up the...

    mirror retainer tabs broken

Me too! Pretty much same thing happened to me. Yesterday I hit a deep chuck hole (seems Colorado Springs has 100s of them this year) at low speed. Left side mirror popped off. I tried to put it back on and the upper plastic retainer disintegrated. So I went to my local dealer to get a new...

    Starting Problems - 2010 RT SM5

Bad Battery Pontenially Just because you measure a good voltage with the key on does not guarantee it will start your bike. To start, the bike electronics (ECM, starter etc.) the battery must provide a minimum amount of voltage while supply the FULL current draw. In other words, to start any...

Oil change, Engine light, Fault codes...

Replace the Oil Pressure Switch...Maybe? Earlier posts in this thread provided the circuit path resistances. If you know how to use an Ohm meter, I would check the resistance of the harness on your bike against the above post. If they are similar, then the harness isn't the problem and do...

    Fuel Vent

Any other symptoms??? Does your bike sputter any? I would check the two vacuum lines to the MAP sensor. They are known to crack on the Spyders. When that happens the computer is going to increase the fuel output to compensate for the vacuum leak, resulting in increased fuel consumption. - Mike

    WHAT TO DO NOW ????

Check the two vacum line to the MAP sensor Do a search for vacuum lines. There is a known failure with the two vacuum lines that feed the MAP sensor. If they leak you will have the symptoms you are reporting. Good luck! - Mike

Would you Buy 2013 RT (new)?

Depends.... I actually own a 2013 RT-S. I bought practically new December 2013 with only 436 miles on it. By the end of January I had pulled the Tupperware and wrapped the header pipes all the way back to the CAT input pipes. I then had the two BRP service recalls (software update and fuse...

    Exhaust leak?

Check the Left Side Exhaust Joint There is an exhaust joint just in front of the fuel tank on the left side. I would check there. - Mike

Has anyone ever got a tank of bad gas.

Also check Vacum lines if it happensagain Troy, if it happens again, I highly recommend you check the two vacuum lines on the MAP sensor. BRP did not use high temp silicone for the lines and they will eventually get too hot, become brittle and crack allowing in excess air and cause the bike...

    Throttle body

Vacuum Lines I think more people have run issues directly related to the cracked vacuum lines on our Spyders than most realize. I intended to eventually replace both of mine with high temp silicone lines.

New (used 2008 RS SM5) Lots of Problems

Consider doing your maintenance? You don't mention your mechanical skills. If you have some reasonable (you don't have to be an expert mechanic) you can buy an electronic Service Manual and do your own wrenching and save yourself a huge amount of money. I would run not walk from your current...

    Altitude Limitation????

THanks for the replies All, thanks for the responses. They confirmed my suspicions that the Spyder's MAP sensor does not have the correct range to go above ~ 11,500 ft without generating a code. The good news is everything goes back to normal after returning to below ~ 11,500 ft.

    Altitude Limitation????

All, does anyone know if there is an altitude limitation on the Spyders? I am just wondering, because, today the wife and I decided to climb Pikes Peak with our trusty new 2013 RT-S spyder. (Glad I convinced her to pack warmer jackets which we put on when were within ~ 3 miles of the summit)...
