• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Brake/Tail LED’s cause VSS/Limp Home msg - what do I do?

If installed correctly?? Put them in and a quarter turn to the right. I’m just wondering how other’s have LED brake lights that are working just fine. Mine are supposedly Can bus but make a VSS/Limp message. What bulbs do I need?

    Brake/Tail LED’s cause VSS/Limp Home msg - what do I do?

So I bought a cheap set of 1157 LED’s for the brake/tail lights. VSS/Limp happened. No surprise. I contacted Superbrightleds and was told that I needed Can Bus bulbs. I ordered them, and the same thing happens. They work beautifully with the key on, but starting the bike gives me the same...

998cc Display says low on oil, dipstick shows normal level ??

I just changed my oil and both filters using BajaRon’s kit. The hex head of my engine drain rounded out. Fortunately, with the 3/32nds” thickness of the head of the OEM plug, I was able to get a pair of vice grips on it and get it loose. Do yourself a favor and order a set of Goldplugs. They...

What’s The Difference Between Front & Rear Turn Signal Bulbs?

So first off, I’m changing out all my lighting to Can Bus ready LED. The front turn signals on the backs of my mirrors calls for a P21W, while the rear signals on the rear Tupperware calls for 12093NA. Both bullbs are amber, both run the same power, and both have the same BAU15S base. So what’s...

    Downshifting vs Braking

So Peter, you’re saying that the clutch starts to disengage on the SE below 3500? Does that mean that in slow moving traffic, like city, construction, etc that just creeping along is bad for it?

Clunk When putting into Gear - is it normal, or what?

Well said! Mine is a 2010 SE5, and still being a very [unusual] February here in the Northeast, I’ve gotten my first rides in as a Spyder owner. I too, was worried about the Clunk, but as you stated, it definitely calms down once the engine reaches full temp. I do find that it still clunks when...

What is a Stock Foot Peg's Weight Limit?

Bet I caught all your attention with THAT title! So, as you may know, the Spyder is the only way I can ride anymore since a stroke. I just don’t trust myself on two wheels anymore. So when I get on the Spyder, I have two options. Either I stand on the ground with my hands on the grips and kick...

First Impressions of First Real Ride!

As a matter of fact, I did check the oil! And it was exactly at the full mark. Just for kicks, I checked it again after about a minute, and it was 3/4. I’ve had no experience with a dry sump motor before. Never even knew they existed! But I’m totally ok with it

First Impressions of First Real Ride!

So this isn’t a “help me” post, so I couldn’t really search for much lol. Other than a short test drive (my first time on 3 wheels) in 35 degree weather, today was the first day that I actually got to take that sassy girl out on a serious ride. WOW! I’m truly impressed and still have a lot to...

What Tire pressure should I use in my new auto tires????

Did BRP change the later model’s specs? I was working on my RS today and the label on that said 15 Front / 28 Rear.

I was stupid! Battery dead at just 3 years!

Not sure what tender you use. I always used the actual Tender brand in the past. I recently switched to the Optimate 0.8 amp and I really like it. I never had a problem with either, but the super low amperage sounded intriguing. It’s supposed to actually test the cells and desulfate if needed...

Battery Showing 36 Volts, then started & now OK! What the??

Brand new AGM in my Spyder. Bike Hasn’t been out yet since, but it’s been plugged into my tender for a month. I have a Foxwell Battery Analyzer and just for fun, I thought I would test the new battery. I disconnected the harness plug for the tender, hooked up my tester and it’s showing 36.3...

    Oil check confusion

One other thing. I bought this bike used with 25k on it. It’s been sitting in my 60 degree garage for over a month while I have been working on it. New grips, canisterectomy, etc. I have no idea how much oil is in it because here in the Northeast it hasn’t been riding weather until just now this...

998cc What's the Firing Order? Does it even matter?

Since the 998 is only a two-cylinder engine, does firing order even matter? I’m doing BajaRon’s plugs and wires, and like a fool, I pulled both OEM wires off the coil pack at the same time, and can’t remember for sure which goes where. Since a two cylinder just alternates between each other...

    Iridium Spark Plug Gap

Sorry, as I know this is an old thread, but Ron, I could’ve sworn that you told me that .034” was a good gap for the 8’s when I bought them last week, so that’s what I did yesterday. I used flat feeler gauges to test adjustments. I’m just confused, because here you’re saying .032”

New Silicone Plug Leads - do they still need the Plastic Sheathing?

Sorry if this has already been asked, but searches weren’t turning up anything. I just did plugs and wires in my 2010 998 RS. I used BajaRon’s kit. I’m surmising that the replacement wires are silicone, thus I’m questioning the necessity of putting the black flex “elephant trunk” sheathing back...

Oil Change. How Important Is Temperature?

So being February in NY and unable to ride, I’m working on the bike today. Kurayken grips, plugs and wires, canisterectomy, vacuum lines, etc. For fun, I pulled the dipstick and it’s not even wet. No oil showing whatsoever. Is that even conceivable for a 55 degree motor that hasn’t been run in...

    Oil check confusion

Old thread, I know, but what’s the point of idling 30 seconds when the motor is still hot from riding? Why not just shut down after a nice ride, wait a couple minutes for the oil to settle, and then check it?

Where & what are these Vacuum Lines that need replacing?

I have read on here several recommendations to replace the OEM vacuum lines with silicone ones. What I.D., how many of these lines are there, what length to buy, is it a difficult job, and perhaps most importantly, where on the bike are these lines? This is a 2010 998.
