• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need to replace Camshaft Position Sensor, on back-order. Can I Repair?

Back to the original question re potential repair: There are optical (such as Martek 440 used to replace dual points on my 1976 Honda CB750F) no longer common, hall-effect and magnetic coil sensors (also know as variable reluctance or magnetic pulse generators) for cam and crank position...

CVT Transmission behaviour Questions - is this normal??

No, but you can burn a lot of rubber and/or disappear very quickly!

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

I suppose it all depends on the roads. There is one section of forest service road near our (former) ranch that is a challenge even in a high clearance 4WD in low range. The last 3/4 mile to our ranch is listed on maps as a Jeep trail. I did get my 2012 Bonneville up it, but only did it once...

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

Came off right side on mine, twice. The second time I drilled into the plastic tab, removed the clip and cable tied the wiring to the tab.

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

BTW, the highway twitchiness commonly associated with riding a Ryker for the first time, is greatly diminished / eliminated with the 400 mm aftermarket shocks. When learning to corner aggressively, the advice is to lean to the inside of the turn to avoid the feeling of being thrown off the seat...

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

I very much enjoyed my Ryker experience, riding it about 1,000 miles per month, as has been my experience on all my recent"bikes", but sold it for the following reasons: 1. Very high RPMs at high speed cruising. 2. Only 33 MPG, explained by high RPMs with the CVT transmission 3. Avoiding...

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

In normal mode (the base 900 does not have sport mode), twisting the throttle can break the rear tire loose on clean dry asphalt at speeds up to about 35 mph. The 900 has great torque, instant acceleration, but rear traction can be marginal. Keeping the transmission air filter clean is...

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

This thread has the shock info https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?132788-BajaRon-swaybar-longer-shocks-test-ryde-up-to-13-000-feet I posted my rather limited experience with rough road travel on the Ryker, but did not intend to imply that I recommended it for that use, although...

Ryker finally broke. RED - Park position lever is engaged or malfunction of the brake

I do not understand the "park position lever" as it will normally start with park engaged. If battery is disconnected, will it clear?

Which gps mount for Zumo XT on Ryker? What do you have?

I only used my TomTom on one 1100+ mile 6 day trip. It's suction cup worked well on the back of the sport windscreen. Stayed 2 nights in hotels at Vermilion Cliffs, Arizona and Kanab, Utah, without issue. Not that I would generally recommend leaving a suction cup GPS unattended. DickB's bracket...

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

If I were to have used the Ryker more off-road, a much more aggressive rear tire would be warranted and a good supply of air filters (same for trans as engine). However, the Rally rear may suffice. OTOH, only one traction issue in 6K+ miles, May-Oct 2020:

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

Much, much better for rough roads, but would it be street legal to access those roads? There are other options if no need for 3 or 4 wheel stability. There are other forum members with more off road experience on a Ryker than I, but the Ryker sections have been rather quiet.

Ryker Rally for long Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) trips?

The first photo is of the road from highway 73 (Williams - Perkinsville, AZ) to Drake AZ, then on to highway 89. 1. The road got rough fairly soon, but no issues with clearance (400 mm front shocks), even when it transitioned to a forest service road. 2. Traction up steep hills can be an...

Where is a good place to attach a Guardian bell? 2021 RT Ltd

Long stroke motors not only have good torque but are also fuel efficient. My Sportster 1200 Sport was good for 59 MPG before it was rejetted. And great in the canyons. Rode my wife 2 up on all day long trips on the XLH883 in comfort with a Sundowner seat (not the Badlander in the below photo)

Ryker 900 stutter / hesistation in reverse

Doubt you need to remove anything. Just inspect the rear VSS. I would send you better photos, but the Ryker is no longer in the garage. This thread has some photos, but not sufficient for the sensor https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?132220-Maintenance-photos Hopefully other...

    2022 Route 66 Ride

AeroPilot, is that the 8 mile section east of Yarnall? US 66 from Crookton (exit 139) to Kingman is 90 miles and only 17 miles farther than I40. Until about a year or so ago, the route 66 emblem was painted at Crookton. A lot of tour buses stopped there for photos. Probably too many taken...

Ryker 900 stutter / hesistation in reverse

The rear speed sensor cable assembly has a connector at one end and the sensor at the other. The sensor mounts similar to a crank or cam position sensor: One bolt hole, with a metal sleeve reinforcing the plastic. The sensor points at the reluctor (tone ring), which has slots for inputs to the...
