• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    DIY TRUNK BRACKET

Well, er, yeah, Poordom, I did do a homemade mount for my V45 Givi topcase. This was after the Industries 7 rack that came with my GS-SE5 self-destucted and sent my topcase bouncing down the road behind me. I wasn't going to bother replacing it, but the case had a backrest cushion on it that my...

    AWESOME combo: Shock Relocator--Swaybar--Elka shocks

Thanks for sharing your experience. Now I have 2 suspension mods to try, the Bajabar and the relocators. I also note your advice on safety and I assure you that after any mod, I bring my speeds up gradually and carefully. So far I haven't gotten out of shape in the corners, but I will heed your...

    AWESOME combo: Shock Relocator--Swaybar--Elka shocks

I very much appreciate your insights here, but I would appreciate your views on the shock relocators. My ride is a GS SE5 with Evo bar and RT shocks and springs. I run higher than called for tire pressures and all my spring adjusters are on the tightest notches, and I only use a 1 inch bar...

    Favorite Riding Type - Poll

I love the twisties best, but not on a stock Spyder. Aftermarket swaybar, shocks and higher than average tire pressures make it happen. Prefer it to cornering a motorcycle, which I also enjoy. Anxious to try shock relocators and different rubber. Of course, the GS/RS/RSS models would be my choice.

What do YOU want to tell BRP at the Owner's Event?

On the RS I'd like: a coolant reservoir that does not self destruct and is easier to check for level, a sport rack capable of mounting a Givi topcase, and a rear fender that is suspended from above instead being bounced to destruction on the trailing arm.

Which handles better, Spyder or bike?

It would depend upon what model of Harley and the skill of the rider. I ride both motorcycles and my Spyder. I found that when my GS SE5 was stock, I would be quicker in the twisties on a bike, due to the Spyder wallowing. After adding aftermarket shocks and swaybar, I am quicker on the Spyder...

full face vs half vs beenie helmet

Me, I like my full face for weather protection, plus I'm adverse to plowing up the asphalt with my face. Whatever. Wear what you want, but be careful out there!

    SE5 oil change tip

When doing an oil and filter change on an SE5, note that the longer 6Mx35 Allen screws fit the smaller trans filter, and the shorter 6Mx30 screws fit on the larger engine oil filter. If you place all the oily pieces in a drain pan, you may get them mixed up (guess how I know). If you do so, the...

Got my 2013 Can Am Spyder RSS SE5!!!!

Great review! I would love to see a comparo between the ST and the RS-S, from a (mostly) sport rider's perspective. Right now the RSS looks best to me.

    Fender fix

Mcaccamise, I live in a rainy climate and often carry a passenger. I have tried going without a fender, but my passenger got wet. This does not happen with my raised fender mod. You can't see it in the photo very well, but I have included some added sheet metal between the fender and the back of...

    RS TAIL BAG RACK

I have followed your project with interest, Spyd3r, since I plan to attempt something similar this winter. For my project, I went to Bent Bike, a nearby motorcycle wrecker, and bought a used Hondaline rack and backrest unit for a few bucks. As you can see from the photos, the backrest adjusts...

Broken Rear fender supports (again) RS

Bouncing up and down on the trailing arm cracks them up. I got tired of it so I did a bit of eye-ball engineering and relocated the fender to hang from above, like a motorcycle fender. Added a third brakelight while I was at it. It's been a while since I did it and I have had no problem with it...

why not a dual-sport on & off road Spyder ??

I think dual-purpose means bad road, not off-road. I don't see why a Spyder based design would not work.

    Highway pegs for RS

    Yup.

Tell me why you love your RS/GS...

I am 5' 8" and 70 years old. The comfort related mods I have done on my GS-SE5 are: 1 inch BRP riser, homemade brake pedal extender, Kewl Metal brackets with Kury highway pegs, BRP sport shield and foam rubber handlebar grip covers. With this setup, I ride as far as I like without discomfort...

I know , I know, this is old news (Hand Brake lever)

I was unhappy with my reaction time using the foot brake until I extended the length of the foot pedal to bring it closer to my foot's riding position. Now that I no longer have to twist my leg to apply the brake, I am perfectly content to be without a handbrake.

My Rear Fender Brackets are Cracking --- AGAIN

I hung my rear fender from above and have not had problems with it since. Fenders riding on the trailing arm get shaken to pieces, I think.

GL1800 (The Perfect Touring Machine) ?

Motorcycle steering is designed for vehicles which "bank" or lean into curves. Three wheeled platforms don't do that. You can paint them up and cover them with bling, but the engineering of conventional trikes is still wrong. My old GS SE5 easily outperforms the local triker guys in the twisties...

    ANTI-SWAY BAR

Yes, I installed my Evo bar this way. Easy. Didn't bother with a ramp either.
