• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Leather or vinyl for new seat?

IMHO, there is nothing that looks as good as a well used, well treated leather seat. Over time, it develops a "PATINA" that vinyl just can't duplicate. On a motorcycle seat, leather is a harder surface than vinyl. It requires more care, too. Kind of like the difference in the kitchen between...

    Drive belt and gravel roads.

I have 3 miles of dirt/gravel road to ride from my house to the paved road. So far.......no problem. Like the others, I go slow and watch ahead for potential problems. No big deal....you get used to it.

    Paint Scheme Opinions Please

I'd have the trunk and frunk removed, and CHROMED. That would make it stand out in any crowd.

    back then

1969 Honda 350 ....my first ride. 1975 Honda 550 Four....my first new motorcycle. Wish that I still had it. 1981 Suzuki GS 450 ....light and handled like a dream. 1982 Suzuki GS 850G ....my first "big" bike. Great looking machine, and I put a Windjammer fairing on it. 1990 Honda 650 Hawk....lots...

    RT Seat

My last motorcycle was a GL 1800 which I thoroughly enjoyed for 13 years. The stock seat was soft and comfortable. After a couple of years, however, it caused me to squirm and wiggle after about an hour and a half in the saddle. So I bought a Corbin leather heated seat and backrest. When I sat...

    XM radio

Satellite radio is digital, and has better quality than FM (frequency modulation). It does have it's dead spots, such as heavy tree cover, large buildings, gas station canopies, etc. XM satellite is located in the sky, in the vicinity of where the sun is at two o'clock in the afternoon. If that...

    light weight full cover

My half cover came with my Ultimate seat. It was free with my purchase. I don't know if you can get them from Ultimate, but it works just fine, and comes with it's own attached pouch. You may want to check with them or check online.

    XM radio optios

Same here......except I mounted the antenna externally with double sided tape. It works just fine. Go to the XM website....see what radios are for sale. There are really small portable ones that you can use. They're extremely simple to hook up and use.

What is considered a Real Motorcycle?

In this world, the majority of MOTORCYCLES have two wheels. Three wheelers and even "quads" are the minority. And while all may qualify for the term "motorcycle", what comes to mind for (IMHO) most people would be two wheels. You may ask yourself...."How large does a watch have to be before it...

    Sad Day

My Spyder goes into hibernation sometime next week......but then I take out the Ski-Doo, do an oil change, check the battery, and get it ready for trail riding starting December 15th. Just hope that we have lots of snow this winter.

    Columbus Day......Riding in New England

For all those who rode yesterday in New England......WASN'T IT A GREAT RIDING DAY ??? Here in Vermont, there won't be many, if any, good riding days left for this season. About noontime yesterday, I took the wife on the RTS and rode up Route 100, then headed west on Route 17. Stopped at a café...

Welcome, Headwrench !!!! Best wishes for you and your new ride !!! You've got some great places to go in Ohio. I spent a few days a couple of weeks ago in the Walnut Creek area. Wished I had my Spyder, but I had 4 wheels instead. Had to carry some stuff to Michigan afterwards. I will be back...

    Gerbing Heated Clothing

Saw the thread on heated clothing...getting long, but here's the "skinny" on Gerbing Heated Clothing. Gordon Gerbing started the business. He warranteed his products. He got terribly sick, and sold the business. The new owners moved manufacturing to China, and cheapened the product. Gordon...

    Backrest

You're right. Robmorg. My mistake...it's the Ultimate seat and backrest. But still, I love it. I did have a Utopia backrest on my Goldwing....and it certainly helped on those long cross country trips. It made long days in the saddle more comfortable.

    Backrest

I put a BRP backrest on my stock seat ('14 RT-S) and liked it. Then I bought a Utopia seat and backrest at SpyderQuest last month. I LOVE the Utopia. As an aside....I have the stock seat and backrest for sale....just haven't posted it yet.

    Riding with spouse

My wife has always enjoyed being the passenger. She has her own snowmobile and ATV and has her endorsement for the Spyder. She has driven the Spyder and does like it, but not enough to have one of her own, which I wish she would. Then I could go back to 2 wheels. Had a GL1800 for 13 years and...
