• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am going to replace the stock seat on my RT. Does anyone know anything about the Corbin seat and backrest? Is that the best one to go with? Looking for more comfort on longer runs.

Don,t have the Corbin but did put on the Ultimate with the back rest and find it very comfy.Mustang now also has a seat for the RT.You have to decide what's best for you.

Here's our experience with all this. No I have not ridden every seat offered. Depending upon who you ask, or how people reply your answers will be wide spread on what is best. What is best for you is decided by you.

Seats are not inexpensive.

We purchased a used Corbin seat from here. The cost was not free but was easy to justify. The entire purchase was a test of sorts to see if a Corbin was for us. After putting some time on the Corbin, we decided we found it good for us.

I did test sit other brands but never rode them. I never came to enjoy the softer feel others rave about. This is what makes it so difficult to say one seat is best. Anyone that believes that is wrong.

Fast forward to now. Since we like the Corbin feel, I gradually purchased other Corbin items. Our final setup is now installed on the RTs, and to help others decide, I took our first Corbin seat and listed it here for sale. This way others could also have the chance to verify if Corbin is best for them without spending the greater amount of money and then need to break it in for a bunch of miles.

I hope you find what is best for you.

On a side note, my wife and I have ridden many thousands of miles on high end bicycles. Those seats are even more critical in my opinion. The same thing happens where what is great for one person is simply a pain in the ass for another. But once you find what you enjoy, you tend to stay with it.

This is one the ONE time that you should listen to a real ass...

Your own! nojoke
Everybody has their own unique perception of what is comfortable. Find yourself some folks that have the various aftermarket seats, and see if they'll let you give them a "test fit".
Your own Southern Hemisphere; should make the decision.

My last motorcycle was a GL 1800 which I thoroughly enjoyed for 13 years. The stock seat was soft and comfortable. After a couple of years, however, it caused me to squirm and wiggle after about an hour and a half in the saddle. So I bought a Corbin leather heated seat and backrest. When I sat on it, my first thought was "Man, this is a hard seat". The Corbin rep, at the time of purchase, told me that it would take probably a thousand miles of saddle time before the seat "conforms" to my butt. I figured that if I'm going to spend over a thousand $$ on a seat, that it should be comfortable and "kiss my ass" from the moment I sat on it. That wasn't the case.
But I will say this about Corbin......It's a harder seat than normal. And over time, even though the "comfort" wasn't noticeable, I could spend long, long hours in the saddle without squirming. It's not a seat that's comfortable as soon as you sit on it, but one that doesn't allow "discomfort" to set in. That's my opinion.

On my RT-S, I have an Ultimate seat and backrest. I like it, but haven't taken any long trips on it.

The stock seat sucks, plain and simple. :gaah: I tried the Corbin, and loved it! :ohyea: Wife hated it. Off it came. :shemademe_smilie: Bought an Ultimate. Found it to be ok. Wife said after a long ride. Her tail bone hurt bad. :helpsmilie: Off it came. :shemademe_smilie:
Now looking for a "real" custom seat builder. Russell Day long is one. Need info a builder in LA.. :hun: Need to get it straight this time. Spending a fortune on seats SUCKS! :yikes: Tom :spyder:

have had experience with both Corbin and the BRP Comfort seat.

:ani29:: OEM sucks and I have replaced every OEM seat on my five :ani29:

:ani29:: Have had two Corbins. Both with drivers backrest. I like the gas door in the seat. Corbins are very "hard." They give good butt and back support for me. You either like them or hate them. Cost more than BRP Comfort. 60,000 seat miles with Corbin. I have one and backrest for sale.

:ani29:: BRP Comfort seat. Currently on both my RT's. Cost is now in the $650 range. Kind of the least expensive alternative for a replacement seat. I find both versions (2012 and 2014) to be satisfactory. The newer version is a bit better. I can ride all day on my BRP Comfort without any problems. About 40,000 happy seat miles and counting.
