• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Mystery Solved

Yesterday, I had one of my Harley mechanics prepare my Spyder for its upcoming trip to California on Route 66. While I was there, I asked him about your observation. He agrees with you, so we rotated the tires (non-directional). I don't know if this will do any good. We shall see. I will be...

    How to buy an RT

I am expecting to get a better deal than that. :2thumbs:

    Valve Adjustment?

No, you don't have to move the tank to get the rear valve cover off, or on. It come off, if you wiggle it some. Getting in back on again is more difficult because you have to protect the new gasket. You can do it.

    Speed Sensor Differentials

On my way home from the Chicago Spyder event in June, I experienced some very strange behavior on the part of my Spyder. Three times the computer spewed out a cascade of fault codes including “check DPS” which culminated with the Spyder going into Limp Mode. I thought I must be getting the much...

    Mystery Solved

I will try to answer some of the questions posed by other owners. Regarding wet weather performance of the Sumitomo tires, it seems to be at least as good as the OEM tires. However, I don’t really have enough experience to make a proper comparison. In over 100,000 Spyder miles I have only...

    Mystery Solved

Many of us have experienced excessive wear on the inboard side of the front tires on the GS/RS Spyders. On my first Spyder the unusual wear pattern was apparent before 30,000 miles. When the Spyder died at 36,500 miles, the excessive wear on the inboard side of both tires was very pronounced. On...

    Cowtown needs help?

I met a Spyder rider who was riding a SE5 with only a left arm. It seemed to work out o.k., but I don't know about the throttle.

BRP Ride with 600 Harley Riders and Two Spyder Riders

Just got back from a wonderful ride with 600 Harley riders and one other Spyder rider. We went from Roanoke Virginia to Asheville, North Carolina on the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP ;)). This is the 75th year of the road. Last year, I was the only Spyder rider on the National HOG rides. This time...

    Limp Home Message

In 2008 with my first Spyder, I rode for ten days in Limp Mode. You just can't go more than about 45 mph. Obviously, you would have to stay off of the Interstate. It's not that you can't ride it, you just can't get there very fast. I have a GS so there may be something about the RT that I don't...

ipad is very limited on the RT

I am on the road going to a Harley touring rally. I got a 64gig 3G iPad the day before I left. I am loving it. It is a huge leap from the netbook I got two years ago. The net book was a huge leap itself. I have had every generation of mobile devices for at least 10 years. I am very impressed...

    100,000 Miles

Deb: The engine hour meter stops working at 1070.9 hours. It stays frozen there forever. The trip hour meter resets to zero and stays frozen. It would be great if the ECM "brain" had the real total hours. I kind of doubt it. Let's see what your ECM reads after you reach 1070.9 hours.

    100,000 Miles

I have a picture of the odometer on my first Spyder taken about a week before the fire. It could be anybody's Spyder. The instrument clusters all look alike. The file carries an origination date, but when I copy it the date becomes the date it was copied.

    100,000 Miles

You're right, Doc. But, look at it this way - I didn't put 500,000 plus miles on just one Harley.;) The most I ever put on a single Harley was 160,000 miles. Spyders are becoming like Harleys - it is normal to have a succession of Spyders. In my case, I didn't have a choice. However, there would...

    100,000 Miles

I crossed the 100,000 mile threshold today. As far as I know, I am only the second Spyderlover to do this. Nickcaro was the first. I crossed the 100,000 mile threshold five times as a Harley rider, but only once as a Spyder rider. I doubt there is enough time left to do four more...

Who is the Huligan Master and Where is His Castle?

So, that's an interesting point of view. The strongest competitor gets to be Master. Looks like a meritocracy to me. Isn't this a good argument for you to get that turbocharger you have always wanted in your deepest heart? Never mind the cost. It is an investment in the quality of life. I would...

    Forest birthday...

Happy Birthday, you old f**t. You are older than I am, but you have the energy of a 30 year old. It just goes to show - "life is not fair". Sometimes I have to struggle just to climb into the saddle. I suppose you take a flying leap.

    Spyder on fire

Don't expect too much from Carlo. BRP treated the fires last year with mostly silence. They will acknowledge that you had a fire and that's about it. Carlo told me that they had studied the fires and then closed the book. They never told us what they found. They just sort of skated by this issue...

Who is the Huligan Master and Where is His Castle?

I have no interest in pins, patches, or plaques, but I do like cash prizes. If the Huligan Master would offer a sizable cash prize for a last place finish, I might be persuaded to become a "Huligan". Hopefully, the prize would be large enough to cover the cost of a turbocharger. I would probably...
