I bought the iPad 64G 3G when it first arrived, and got the unlimited access for $19/mo. Since that time, I have dropped my Macair and iPhone as useless. Note: the monthly iPad fee is $20 LOWER than my iPhone fee, from the same vendor...
With Skype, I have full phone use, and E-mail in a format I can use. Additionally, the large screen mapping (quasi-GPS) is really helpful.
All my business needs for traveling - word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations are all done on the iPad + wireless keyboard.
I have five desktop computers in my system, none of them run Win OS, nor do any of them have ANY Microsoft software. All calendars are automatically updated when I make a change on any of the computers or iPad, and the iPad includes a locator if lost or stolen.
I have looked at the iPad 2, and did not find a reason to upgrade. I could care less about a camera, as I refuse to participate in the "social media" craze.
Lamont is correct about the ICE/Spyder control of the music - it's because of the App interface, rather than the direct link found on the iPod - the same holds true for the iPhone - at least for my old one, which has been relegated to iPod and WiFi/Skype usage.
Those that dis the iPad either have never really used one, or, for some reason are tied to their boat anchor (laptop).
Personally, I believe that future generations if iPads will have a "real" docking station, fully replacing laptops. Looking at the new MacAir, there's no reason why the iPad can't have 256 or 500g of memory…
May Microsoft & the PC RIP…… JMHO
