• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

7.0 Earthquake in Alaska Thursday Night

Some may be reading about this on the internet.

Bottom line, it happened in a sparsely populated area and therefore, no death or bad destruction to property.

We were 400 miles away from the epicenter here in Chugiak. The stuff on the shelves made rattling noises but we had to pay close attention to feel the movement that went with it. It lasted for over 30 seconds the first time and about 20 seconds the second time. If this had been in our immediate area, the ground liquifaction would have taken place and there would have been some big damage.

The long and large quakes are the killers.

The good news, usually, a quake of this magnitude relieves some of the stress within the ground plates.

I hope there's not a big one while we're there! On the other hand, I've never experienced a real shaker. And I've lived in Kansas most of my life and never seen a tornado, either!

We shall hope for the best. The odds are in your favor that nothing of note will happen.

Our area experiences over 100 quakes a day--most are not even noticed. Yellowstone gets about 300 a day, in comparison.

 D,
Is it my imagination; or have the incidences of earthquakes been increasing this Spring?
(Glad that you guys are okay!!)

Yikes..!!

Don't get me started. Glad it was a distant one. Peru has its share of quakes so moved around a lot and look where I end up....hope the Alaska trip fares well and all have a great trip....
