• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

One Tire or Two?

stillriding

happy old fart
My right tire on my '14 RTS is just about shot with only 6100 miles on it. It's cupped and the tread depth ranges from 4/32" down to 2/32" while the left one still looks great. I've not noticed any shimmying and I haven't hit any exceptionally deep potholes since my laser alignment 12 months ago. Baja Ron's sway bar was installed shortly after I bought the Spyder and the bike handles exceptionally well. BRP says I'm s.o.l. if I expect them to replace the tire. So, should I replace both fronts to keep the tread depth the same?

bum

I would change both and keep the other as a spare. I would also have the alignment checked (many laser folks will do that much free). If any work was done on the rear wheel, tire change or belt adjustments, this can cause a change in the alignment.

Option to rotate front tires - Your call

It took two sets of fronts on our 2011 RT before I wised up and had the laser alignment. Kept the good one as a spare second time around after getting the alignment. First set, I took the wheels off, and took them in to have the tires remounted, keeping the rotation direction the same and ended up getting another 5,000 miles on the setup. Your eyes and comfort level should dictate the decision, but by rotating you can see if the wheel/alignment/position is causing the wear (as ours was) or if its a bad tire.

Either way I would get the alignment checked again. Our third set is wearing even at 65,000 miles total on the bike.

I was also going to recommend changing both tires. That way, you will have even tire wear on both and less chances for glitches.

I got my Spyder laser aligned at SpyderFest... asked LaMonster how do I go about changing the rear tire without screwing up the alignment... he said to disconnect the rear shock and remove the axle without moving the adjusters... he said he explains it in a video.. might save someone some headaches..

by the way.. . I think you should change both front tires ...
