• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Lousy Elka shock service

Flamewinger

New member
Had new stage 1 Elka shocks installed on 2013 ST March 31. Rode 1200+ miles since and one of them is leaking. On Friday I called Elka and got voice mail. Monday I got someone that put me thru to voice mail. Today I called and got number for a repair place in WV. Print service repair sheet, ship shock to them and hopefully get it back in a week or less.

My gripe is I could've used this repair info on Friday so I could get the shock off and shipped by now. When I called to ask about these shocks to buy I got immediate response. When it comes to fixing a problem, they're in need of improving their customer service.

Wow..!!

That is surprising...maybe their grip on the market is taking its toll..:banghead: hope they pick up on this and you keep after them. If dealer installed get them on their case as well...

Rather than roast them in an open forum where they can't defend themselves; why not take this up with them directly? :dontknow:

...But I am sorry to hear that you're in this situation.

Shocks

I had my shocks leaking , shipped then to elka it took two weeks, got them back last week. Call John at 1-450-655-4855 and he will help you.

I did try taking it up with them before posting.
Called Friday and got voice mail. No return call. Called Monday and got someone that switched me to someone else and got voice mail. No reply. Called today and got info about WV service center. They say about a week to fix.

Yeah When I purchased in 2012 Elka, had assembled the shocks wrong so I could only put them in upside down. So had to call and they explain to the tech to make adjustments. This caused me to pay for 2 hours of labour instead of 1.

When my friend purchased a 2013 ST and purchased Elka's they assembled the shocks with the wrong springs.

Of course to figure this out caused time and headaches.

Having said that, they are great shocks

I have never dealt with them . . . .

Also, I'm in California and have tried calling John. Found it useless.

. . . . but your experience does not match up with what I have heard others say. Over all, except for having to make a few calls, I wouldn't be as upset as you sound, but then, God help anything getting between me and my riding time.

I can only add, with the time difference between CA and WV, that can make a difference getting a hold of somebody.

BTW - I called Elka in Canada. When I bought the rear I called them to find out the best for my ride. This time I called for help and rhey didn't reply and then told me about the WV service center.

Sorry to hear about the premature failure. I won't defend Elka or any manufacturer more than to say sometimes quality products do have things go wrong. How they handle the situation illustrates the company they are.

They should get it sorted out and you will have a nice set of aftermarket shocks leading the way.

Curious if you sent in just the leaker or sent in both?

Hey Bob ,Look like he did and just got pass around ,Glad he brought this out ,maybe they shall see this and get off there butt and get back with him .

I was told to just send in the leaking shock. It will take about 4 days ground ship - a week to check out a repair. - the grounds ship home. I've put the Fox shocks back on so I can ride. I got very spoiled with the 5 Goldwings I've had so this is all new experience.

There is another post here that shows their shocks need the oil and seals replaced once a year, atleast some models.
Seem very time consuming and costly.
Hope they don't charge you too much...
Sorry, you got the run around.

Susie,

Normally all Spyder product situations are forwarded to me however I am currenty at Spyderfest since the 28th which would explain my inability to respond to you earlier. I will make sure that your situation is rectified as soon as possible.
