• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Powerlet Outlet and Left-side Passenger Hand Grip Removal

I have been on the search in the forums for anyone who has installed a Powerlet outlet in the spot that is under the left passenger hand grip (where the 3/4" covered hole is). I wanted to start a thread to see if folks have any input. Here are a couple of my questions:

1. Is the hole the correct size to accommodate the Powerlet outlet? The Powerlet instructions say the hole needs to be 11/16 inch. The hole under the hand grip is 3/4 inch. Are the nuts that come with the Powerlet large enough to cover the slightly larger hole without a problem?

2. Is the left passenger handle grip pretty easy to take off and does doing so allow a person to get tools in there to fasten the Powerlet? Thought I would ask for any veteran advice before I started experimenting :D.

Thanks in advance for any input...

I have a '12 RT and put a standard 12 vdc cigarette lighter receptacle in that spot on the left side and a Powerlet receptacle in the same area over on the right side.

Been too long ago to remember details, but it can be done. The rear side panel has to be removed to get that plastic panel that holds the receptacle out, but the actual grip stays in place. In my case, both receptacles in the rear and the same two styles in the front speaker grills are wired through separate 15 amp fuses.

I have and yes it fits without a problem and covers the hole nicely. The removal of the handgrip was very easy with plenty of room to work. I ran the power lines directly to the battery so I can plug in the battery tender when needed. I also added one to the center console. This is much harder to install, but I like not having to drill holes in the body panels.
