• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I remember growing up in the Ozarks it was tradition when your friends got married everyone would get together and surprise them with a shiverey. I guess it was meant more toward interruption of the honeymoon than anything. Seems unless he provided cigars for everyone we would kidnap the groom and I'm not sure what the ladies did with the bride. I remember we threw my brother in a nasty pond and then made him ride home on the front fender, one other occasion a friend was having to wheel his bride up and down main street in a wheelbarrow, he accidently tipped it over on a curb and broke her leg (we never did that again). We always made sure this happened within the 1st couple of months.
Does anyone else remember this tradition and possibly remember any thing else about them. Sure miss the good ole days and would love to do another one some day.

Gotta say..!!

well kept secret...:dontknow: may have to explain yourself if you do it now...:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I've heard of shiveries, but never knew of anyone who participated in them. I had always understood it was on the wedding night and friends of the couple would go around outside their place banging on pans and whooping it up so the newlyweds wouldn't have any fun. But that was when people got married and went home, instead of going away on a honeymoon trip.

I think a remnant of it is the tricks people will play on the wedding couple. Things like messing with the clothes in their honeymoon luggage, sewing up underwear, etc.

At one friends wedding i tried to kidnap his bride (she was a real looker) but my wife was watching me so i did not do it.

Hi Mo

Re: Does anyone else remember this . . .

Back when I was 18, somehow I ended up attending a Polish wedding & reception in a small town in Washington state. I ended up behind the bar serving beer alongside the county sheriff.

I forgot about the noise and general harassment and yea most happened on the wedding night. But it is never to late. ;)
