There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Another Oil Change Thread for the 1330s

Ann, this is like taking a glass , putting it in a stream and filling , looking at it , it looks clear , then drinking it..................well good luck with that :helpsmilie:......Doc H changed His oil at 4700 mi. (BRP blended ) & after testing it revealed it had dropped to 20w from 40 w ...............My guess would be it got worse from there not better, so what would it be at 9300 miles ?????....................just sayin.......Mike

Like Jack said, if BRP says to change it at 9.300 miles they must have a reason and I will stick with that. The oil in the 1330 looks no worse after 9,3000 miles than it did in the 998 at 4,300 miles. I use full synthetic Amsoil.

PS Mike did you know that you pi$$ people off with your .............$$$, blue and red text and frequent use of emoticoms? I think it is just peachy and life would be boring without you.

I use Royal Purple 10W40 Automotive Synthetic since our 2008 SE5...95,000 combined miles of using this oil. Never had any engine issues, always change my oil at 5,000 mile intervals (5,000...10,000...15,000 etc). The great thing about that oil, it goes in purple and comes out purple. If we ever get another Spyder, (a 1330) guess what oil I am using...Royal Purple 10W40 Automotive Synthetic. And it will be changed every 5,000 mile intervals.

....dear spyderann01 have you and " your people " contacted Lamont about the above options ( italics & others ) that He has made available to the members of this site, and how " pi**ed " off you are. also BRP recommends using BRP oil in the spyder and you are in violation by using amsoil, but I suppose that's ok because you feel that you are one of the rule decider's.

Not sure what it would be at 9300 miles, but at 6000 it was 20w. Mobil110-40 motorcycle oil was at 33w at 6100 miles.

Ann, concerning the above.....How I could I possibly be " Aware of bothering " someone I wasn't sending a message to or for ? ? ? .........really, I think that's a stretch., Mike

I think you are missing some information...........When the engine and transmission share the same oil it's a whole different ballgame .....................PS, the Spyder does !!!!....Mike

wait until Doc's next test to better formulate an opinion. And yes I know the 1330 engine and tranny share the same oil and water, aluminum, brass, copper, and anything else that gets in there. The question is how long will the oil hold its viscosity and how well will the filter remove the contaminants. Again, Doc is doing us a great favor by doing the research and providing us with his findings. In the end I hope he confirms BRP's recommendation of a 9,300 mile oil change. That would be fantastic, but if not, we'll all know we need to change our oil and filter sooner than what BRP recommends. :dontknow:

I'm going to sleep better knowing this ......M

I have been unable to find any full synthetic 5w40, non SL rated, oil in the Portland area. 10w40, 10w50, 0w40, 0w50 yes - even those are mostly SL rated.

I found a dealer that could ORDER 5w40 Amsoil, at $13/quart... but only in case (6q) quantities - so I'd have to order 12q to get enough for an oil change.

This has been posted ( often ) 5w-40 Rotella Full Syn. meets or exceeds all BRP criteria For the 1330 Ace engine/trans ( manual and Semi ) Walmart about $ 22.50 per Gal sells in qts. also................I have been using it and have had no problems ................Mike

OK

I've never been a WallyWorld store. O'Reilly Auto Parts has it here....

Thanx

I don't have O'Reilly here..........But the price I quoted is at WallyWorld .....it's the lowest price for a Quality Full Syn that I have found .....Rotella is SHELL,...Mike

Hey Mike, Used to use ROTELLA in my Diesel Pushers for years and it was a Diesel Oil. Went to wikipedia and it says Rotella "C" is for diesels only and "S" rating is for gas only. It states further that ROTELLA "C" is not recommended for any engine that has a Catylitic Converter. Just thought you might want to know. Must be something about Emissions. It did state further that some cars and motorcycles use it. Now don't flame me, just pointing this out in the interest of information and knowledge.;) If you do I will report you to "Ann" and tell her you are using colors and emoticons again.
