I have to go back to work today after two days off because of dreaded snow. What's so stupid about that you say? I have to take the Spyder, on icy/nasty/treated roads! I know what all of you are thinking-Not in a million years!-and I agree, but I don't have a car and the Buddy 125 scooter with a Tow Pac installed just spun its rear wheel. Don't worry, I will rinse it ASAP and being nice I will give you a update about my icy journey. I need to find a beater car.....

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It will be interesting to see how the spyder does. I thought about taking the spyder through the neighborhood to see how it would do on the 1 1/2" of sleet that we got. I changed my mind.

As others have admonished--be very careful. You may be able to go, but stopping is going to be another subject. Also, watch out for those who are out of control--they are the ones that can hurt you.

The Washington State DOT puts out signs all the time that say, "Motorcyclists use extreme caution." I always say if you're not using extreme caution all the time you shouldn't be on a motorcycle.
The Spyder and I survived! Most of the roads were very clear, but the ones that did not get plowed stunk! If I put the front tires into the car tracks then the back wheel kept sliding around, and if I put the rear wheel in the cleared track then the front wheels went all over the place. Didn't slide into anything and took the bumpy unplowed roads very slow. When I got home I rinsed everything I could get to with hot water so that nasty deicer doesn't have a chance to cause any problems. Oh, and I wish I knew how to record and post video. Heck, I don't even know how to download music on my phone or a Ipod. I'm super old school. I do need to learn video as the scooter club gets some great footage with the GoPro's they use during rides. Also still learning how to post pictures! That Shawn Smoak video was awesome! I should have studied that before going into work today!

My boss told me about the Zip Grips, obviously AFTER my little sliding experiment. Will have to look into them for emergency use. He said he found them on Kickstarter and that they were kinda expensive. I did carry a big tupper bowl of cat litter, which has saved me a lot when I drove 18 wheelers in icy conditions. And yes Yorktown, you were in it to! This, Sunday, was the first day I could ride my scooter. We never got enough of rain to wash the roads off yet. Last Thursday and Friday I had the wives Subaru, didn't want to put the Spyder thru that mess again!
