Loading the RT-S onto a trailer

Hi all, new guy on the block here. I didn't see an introduction forum here...I'm in southern WI and hope to own a 2010 RT-S by the end of next week. I have the option of letting the dealer store it til the weather cooperates, or bring it home. I do not wanna drive it on the roads right now due to so much salt and crap. So, my question is....is there enough under clearance to load this beast into a trailer if I borrow one from a friend? I guess it depends on the ramp angle, just curious if anyone has had to do it before. We'll be trading in an '06 Honda ST1300 on the Spyder. Gonna be interesting to say the least.

Here's what you do..!!

back the trailor to the curb a the angle disappears. Otherwise take along some 2"x6"'s to help the front end along. Although the dealer should be able to get you loaded. Just unloading at home....

We load both our RTs on an 18ft trailer from time to time. No need for boards or curbs. The approach angle for the spyder is much easier than for my GT or a Vette.

It's all about the angle of the ramp (gate)???????? My trailer is from Northern Tool and never had a problem.

Lets Qualify this. I assumed you were talking an enclosed trailer. If it is 6ft tall or taller with a ramp door and door flap you are good to go on level ground. Just watch what you are doing and your head. The other thing to note is the width of the rear ramp opening and clearance between the door cables. The RT at 62" will not fit in most 6 foot wide trailers, there are exceptions. I have a 6 foot wide with 64" between the cables and a 66" door opening. All 7 foot wide and over trailers will work just fine. Hope this helps.

Good to know. I didn't think of the drop cables, as much as I used to trip over them when we had our snowmobile in one...LOL...

Actual opening width and ramp angle. some work arounds for ramp angle as above.
I had a enclosed trailer, opening with was 1/2 to small. Measure very carefully. Glo ryder are actually wider then stock

if you are loading into an enclosed, as long as its 7' wide even with the cables it will be fine. Use a set of 2x8 for the approach to the trailer ramp and you will be all set.

Does your friends trailer have the EZ Track tie downs in the floor or on the side walls?

Please tell me more about your trailer. We have 2 2014 RTs and are looking for a trailer to haul both of them.

We have an 18' aluminum bed Kwikload trailer. Easiest to load and unload trailer I have ever owned. One person operation.

We opted for the full length rub rails (tie down bars along the sides) and the wind fairing at the front. It was primarily bought for my GT but could not have been designed better for a pair of spyders.

Trailer

I have a 6x10 utility trailer with a 5' mesh gate. If I think I need a better angle I lower the tongue jack, without even unhooking it from
my truck.
Just don't forget to raise the jack when you're finished.
