• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

farkle
accessory.

The word is generally accepted to mean a combination of "function" and "sparkle", hence, farkle.

Motorcycle enthusiasts may install accessories, called farkles (also spelled farkel), to customize their machine.

One source attributes the term to Pete Wells, the organizer of a 1997 Honda ST1100 rally

The term is well known in the sport touring community.

An enthusiast may be in the process of "farkling". The completed motorcycle would be all "farkled up". Radar detectors, Global Positioning System receivers, heated grips, and satellite radios are some of those farkles. Other accessories could be aftermarket seats, side and/or top cases or bar risers, which make the motorcycle more suitable for long miles.

I have no idea. Probably the same begining as "Safety Chrome" on a Gold Wing. i.e. chrome arond a tail light increases safety. ????

I know what a Farkle is but how the heck did it come by that name. Stand for something?

Good question Utah. I am thinking the word started getting used a bit early on and it kind of stuck. Same as "frunk" for the front trunk.

Maybe someone will do some research and fill us in as to who and when on SL. It is in the dictionary, but that don't count. :roflblack:

FARKLE

Damn, wrong again. I thought it had something to do with f--ts and sparklers.

Or was it a dance we used to do in College.

Makes Sense

That clears it up for me. It makes sense. "Function and Sparkle" = "Farkle". It also justifies more Farkle for the RTL.
