• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT-622 Trailer Towing Hints for a Novice

RT-622 Trailer Security

Any suggestions on how to secure the RT-622 when unhitched?
Apart from a chain and padlock are there other options?

Put it in the lobby of the Hotel, or baring that put it in your hotel room, tell the front desk it's a service (animal) trl.:clap::roflblack:

I am considering purchasing a 622.
I realise this is a very short question with possibly many answers, but I would appreciate any advice/hints on towing trailers.

Thanks,
Gerard

Make sure you hook it up to the BACK of your Spyder.

You can lock down the lever that must be up to hook to the ball of the hitch, trailer places sell a piece that locks into the ball area of the receiver, and there are probably other ways.

No one has said anything about it or I missed it, but the tongue weight I believe is not supposed to exceed 40 lbs.. I just got back from a 4,100 mile 16 State New England trip towing a trailer (not a 622) and I used a battery jumper power inverter to run a baby monitor in the trailer. We then set the base unit by the bed and set the volume at a level that didn't interrupt my sleep, but would wake me if someone was screwing around. WE also bought a cable that I went around the trailer at night. If nothing else this dissuaded anyone from any mischief. We stayed in a few sketchy area (this happens when you book cheap motels). I wasn't one bit worried at all and slept like a baby the whole trip. We also kept the trailer tongue locked to the bike and I think that monitor would have let me know if someone was messing with the bike, also. One other nice thing about having that cable was that we did a few side trips without the trailer (much more fun) and always found a good anchor point using that cable and lock. Someone on here mentioned it when I was prepping for the trip and I can't thank them enough. Well worth what we paid for it.
We didn't buy the 622 for the cost and also the weight. We bought the largest Starlight they make for about 3K dollars less. Trailer weighs about 150 lbs empty. With my tools and equipment and all the stuff we took, we probably had 300 lbs in it and it pulled great. Bike did great! Here is the link for the 10 foot long cable I bought and used. Good luck!

You will like the R-622 trailer. We have towed ours from CT to Rehoboth Beach DE, and to visit our daughter in Eastern PA. ( We have to bring a blow-up bed) As for security, here is what I do.
20141010_082155.jpg20141010_082313.jpg I run the cable through a wheel I wrap it around a post, if I can. I also remove the hitch pin & put a lock in its place. That puppy is going nowhere. I also cover it with the BRP trailer cover.

Good Idea

Good idea....but could have some trouble in Australia if I try this option. :roflblack:
