Prayers on the way. But, was there supposed to be a link?

Here's one link-

Was the on track incident between those two? It's not clear at this point.

I attempted to add a link, but I did something wrong. Thanks for the link.
It was a on track incident. Some reports say tony attempted to spray the guy with dirt and caught the driver with the right rear throwing him a considerable distance. The driver was out of his car pointing at Stewart after he belived tony sent him into the wall.

If he actually did that, he should be in for some trouble.

We need to see the video of the accident to see if he did anything intentionally to make contact with the other driver. How ever the first mistake was him getting out of the car and walking on the Track.

Tony was trying to "roost" the guy, and screwed up... :gaah:
It's not criminal; but it's about as stupid as you can get on the track. :banghead:
Prayers and condolences to the young man's family...

And that is why you don't pick a fight with a moving car. Sorry no sympathy from me. If drivers want to act a fool then they control their own fate. Same goes for on track retribution. It is not a Demolition Derby drive careful on and off the track.

Wow, some of you are pretty quick to condemn Tony. The car in front of Tony swerved to avoid the kid and Tony was right there. Didn't look like he had a lot of time to take any kind of action to avoid him. Tragic, yes, but intentional I doubt it.

Accountable

I think Tony will hold himself accountable the rest of his life, but when you walk out in the middle of a race track you will get hit, to me there wasn't much Tony could do.

Its a tuff call. But some reports have tony admitting he was going to "roost" him. If thats true then he had plenty of time to drop lower on the track instead of intentionally heading close to him. I agree Ward shouldn't have gone towards Stewart's car, but Stewart was in no danger from Ward. Tony should have dropped down avoiding the situation.

they were both wrong in their actions. Tony will end up paying this kids family tons of money to go away.

if Tony were smart he'd lay low for the rest of the season.

it looks to me that even if tony had gone low to avoid him , this guy would have been there too. he was determined to get in tony's face no matter what, and unfortunately he paid the price. from that angle you can't tell if tony was trying to avoid him or not. i'm sure he had no intention to hit him, but if he did try too roost him. and it can be proven ? than he should be held responsible.

This incident is going to be discussed for years. It was a terrible and unfortunate turn of events.

My guess is, there are going to be some rule changes after this; and maybe there should be, now that someone has died.

No matter whose fault, I feel bad for all involved.

I agree, IF he tried to roost him, he should be held responsible.

I agree w this. Having been on a track many times in my life I know that things can happen very very very quickly. A person on the track is a big no-no...and moving towards his car even worse.

Only Tony was in the drivers seat and could see what he saw. I feel sorry for Tony having to live w this senseless act by this punk.

Having said this I don't watch this type racing and don't really know who this Tony guy is, but just a shame he had to experience this. :(

So this "punk" deserved to die? Tony Stewart is NASCAR driver and team owner who has gotten out of his car on a NASCAR track to show his displeasure towards another driver by throwing his helmet at the car.

No, didn't deserve to die, but...if this punk was on tracks since he was 4 yrs old or whatever he knew better than to walk on a live track.

Rule 1 in any racing, don't get out of your car unless it is on fire!
