• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ford, gets it.

I will not own Asian cars or bikes. Period. Its simply not and never has been a level playing field and we continue to allow it to happen. I mostly cannot afford European models for daily transport. At least not the interesting models.

It may be your job next. I don't even work in the automotive industry, but its one of the few where american products are among the best the world has to offer and we need to support that. I work in one of the few others where American design still means something. Its no small feat and worth supporting. There is not much left.:firstplace:

Someone said pretty much what you said a few years back on spyderlovers. When I asked what he meant, I never got a direct answer. I'm guessing here, but Japan for example, do they impose a high tax on U.S. cars entering their country? Is this what you mean when referring to level playing field?

I'd love to have an Audi, can't afford one. Beemers don't excite me. Mercedes, depends. Toyota's, not so much. Nissans, the Altima is a pretty car and I really like the 350/370Z. Just can't fit in one . Corvettes are over rated. Really like the Mustang, especially the older models. I could go on but you get the point. It is a shame though that foreign cars are most always rated above American cars for safety and reliability.

That is part of it. We do not have fair access to their markets. Same is true for Korea and much of China.

Has not been true in years. Toyota's recall rate has been much higher than Ford for some time. And Ford's models consistently rank in the top of class for safety testing. Usually well above the Asian brands. Benz and Volvo give a good competition though. In addition, Ford now has more models with class leading fuel economy than any manufacture. Trouncing Toyota by a long shot. Toyota's pickups are sucking down gas hurting their corporate average fuel economy badly. Honda is better average than Ford overall but they do not build any full size cars or trucks.

Toyota, Nissan, Hyndai and Kia all have higher incidence of repair and higher average repair costs for each vehicle class, mostly due to parts costs.

Good info JC. Most of the Asian car fanboys aren't going to buy this even though it's true.

And might I add one thing. Not that i care where cars are rated in these so called expert reviews, but JD Powers had Ford rated near the top in a lot of classes about three years ago. Recently Ford has been dropping like a rock in the ratings but it has nothing to do with the actual safety or dependability of the vehicle. It's about the My Ford Touch infotainment system developed by microsoft. Ford is dropping MS and will be using a different system starting in 2016 I believe. So if you look up Fords rating it does not look good, but it has nothing to with the car itself. I don't think cars should be so heavily judged based on gadgets.

I agree with you. The MyFordTouch system in my wifes Escape is our only dislike for the vehicle. Ours works ok but its diffecult to use and frustrating. Voice commands are useless. Audio section works ok, its mostly the nav system that is bad. Much easier to pickup one of our cell phones and say 'OK Google" and then ask about what we are looking for.

Agree. My brother recently drove a 2014 Ford Explorer loaner. Their biggest complaint was the My Touch and fuel mileage. He and his wife both own Fords. She has a 2014 Escape and he has a 2010 F150.

We have a 2014 Impala. The system in it works really well. Easy to use. Bluetooth is really good and the sound quality (Bose) is great. Voice command works really well.

Look, I don't care what you drive. What I don't agree with is bringing up the bail out every time we get in to one of these threads. Every vehicle on the road has it's good and bad qualities.

My Camry was built in the U.S. My wife's Lexus was built in Japan. My Spyder was built in Canada. My last two-wheeler, a Yamaha V-Star 1300T, was built in Japan. The car I had before my Camry was a Saturn Vue built in the U.S.

I would take a Japanese bike over a Harley any day of the week. However I am partial to Victorys and the new Indians. They just don't make anything as small as I would like to go with my Spyder, though the new Scout comes close.
