• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil Change?

Just bought a 2014 RT and love it. I am a ASE Mastertech for about 30 years so I know my way around a wrench or tow. I was wondering if anyone has serviced their own vehicle (LOF, etc.). Our dealer is quite a ways away. I would also like to know if I can get a repair manual for the 2014 RT. Thanks in advance! -Doc

For sure..!!

many do..I always suggest they do the first service, in your case at 3,000 miles, then you can do your own work. Just secures they saw it at break in install any updates etc. When you do your own work have it hooked up to buds from time to time to stay up to date. Congrats on the new ryde and welcome..!!

Easy Oil Change

Doc, I've changed mine from the first. Much easier than the pre-14's. Two drain plugs underneath....look and you'll see the holes in the belly pan. Feel around and you'll find them. Left is is the main plug...has O rings..., right is the gear box....its magnetic. You have to pull the top right tupperware off to get to the filter. The manual shows you how. The mirror removal is the tricky part but after the first time, its easy. Pull up and out from the bottom to get it off the two lower nipples, then pull up to get it off the single top one. Pull out the wire and unclip. After you get the top tupperware off you'll find a large black plastic plate that you have to remove to get at the filter. The filter cap is 36mm....big hummer....same size as the axle nut. The cap is similar to a dip stick in that it has a rod that goes down thru the oil filter. It has a couple O rings on the bottom.
I've not yet changed any of the O rings although the book says change them each time.

They're available; but usually fiercely expensive!
At least you've got 3,000 miles worth of time to read-up on the process! :D

Awesome, guys! Great info. Sounds like the worst service part is getting that mirror off. I have a lift in my garage and I'm wondering about lifting the bike with it. Also planning on putting the stiffer sway bar on to make the ride a little more stability. Those manuals vary greatly in price, so I will check number of pages to see which one will give me the biggest bang for my buck. Rained today so couldn't ride. That sucked! Do most of you use the rec'd oil or has anyone went to full synthetic yet? And, how well do the cup holders work that I see for sale. I need my coffee. I have done a workaround that seems to be working for about $5, but was wondering if the others might work better. If anyone is interested, I'll post my cheap cup holder and explain what I did. Maybe you guys can improve on it!
