I replaced my plugs with BajaRon's set up on my 2012 RS SE5. I've attached 3 pics of the same spark plug & both plugs look the same. I tried to match it up with the examples in the manual. Does this plug look like carbon deposits problem? Or another problem?

Looks like carbon buildup. What octane gas to you use, and does it contain ethanol? You should probably be using 93. These engines do not like ethanol. I carry an ethanol treatment with me for use when I gas up, and I run Seafoam through about every 5th tank. The engine runs much better now that I do this. You may want to try it. Good Luck!

I only use 93, hard to find non ethanol. What ethanol treatment do you use? I use techtron & stabil very so often.

That plug looks fine to me...normal wear and coloring.
Edges are a bit worn showing use. How many miles?

Depends..!

could be carbon or running rich. Ethenol treatment is good also check air flow, intake and filter, as well as keeping your oil level full or under to avoid oil feeding back to the throttle body...don't know if your running the right plugs. If you go with the iridium plugs from bajaron's and plug wires you will see a great improvement...

Lucas Oil Products "Safeguard." Get @ Walmart. Good for E-10, E-15, & E-85. A 16 oz. bottle treats up to 80 gallons. WM has Seafoam also, but I buy that at Auto Zone because they have the large size that I pour into a graduated bottle. Use 1 oz. per gallon. I use Stabil in a full tank of gas when I put the :ani29: away for the winter.

The plugs look good for 93 octane gas with 10% enthanol. The Sta-Bil Marine works better in motorcycle due to the heat, a 1/4 oz. per 4 to 5 gal. at every fill up. Do you have any mods. to intake (K&N filter, mods. to the air box) or exhaust (heat tape, mods. to the muffler) systems?

Looking good

Those plugs look fine to me, a nice grey colour, showing that the engine is running very well.
Just my humble opinion.

Plugs look good, I don't see anything to be concerned about. It is possible that you may not have run it hard, not gotten it up to operating temperature, or idled a bit before pulling them. That can give you some light carbon buildup around the edges.

Going from those old copper electrode plugs to the Iridium IX should help you out.

Hope you love the new setup!

Thanx to all for your guidance.

Thanx a ton Ron for your spark plug & wire set up. I notice a significant change in performance.

Not a problem. Glad you're happy with them.

As a rider I love stuff that works and I hate stuff that is mostly (or all) hype. Don't you just love it when you put something on your ride and it actually lives up to the marketing? I know I do.

People are so skeptical today. I am skeptical too! Who can blame us?

If some of these companies would put more of the money they spend on generating hype into product improvement, there would be a lot more happy customers out there (including me!).

While it is true that you can't make everyone happy. It should be the goal of every vendor to make as many happy as possible.

Have a great riding season!
