• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Chaps or Pants????

Ya I hear ya... My want is that I'm in Southern Maine and allot of my early morning riding is cold, so I double up pants and its a pain where I've never owned Chaps and thought it would be the way to go... I also take off on the weekends for hundreds of miles so its also for safety in case a Bear decides he wants to check out my ride and crosses my path :yikes: :2thumbs:

Riding pants usually are more comfortable for a day's worth of wearing.
But nothing says "protection", like a good solid set of leather chaps!

Me? I'm going for some Kevlar-lined riding jeans! ;)

:opps: Well... :D
It depends on who I'm with, and where the riding is going to take us! :roflblack:

Robert, Robert! :lecturef_smilie: This is a family friendly forum.....................................something I try to NEVER allow to restrain any of my posting. ;)

BTW: I recommend wearing pants, even when you are wearing chaps...........................June bug season is upon us! A June bug strike in any unprotected critical area could be disastrous, painful, and debilitating...............unless you're into the "pain" thing. NO videos, please! nojoke

rworell, I know what you mean about the early morning rides in Maine. I rode to work the last four days and the coldest was 38. I wear chaps with jeans. Still considering the First Gear one piece suit for the commute to work.

I used to shop for chaps, but then I bought the Can-Am leather pants at Spyderfest, and I really like them. I wore them on a cool morning here and they did fine.

Either way you go, if you get leather, get ones that are lined. Also, I've heard from people that have chaps to not get the ones with laces or snaps on the back because they are uncomfortable when you're sitting on your bike.

Bob, the Kevlar jeans are protective, but not much warmer.

I don't worry too much about cold-weather riding... :D
In normal riding gear; I'm pretty much good to go; right down to slightly below freezing...

Do any or you wear them? Do you love em?

Rich
I wear both sometimes. Other times, I just wear pants. Seldom do I wear shorts--only when lounging around the house. About the only time I wear neither is when I'm taking a shower. That said, why do you ask?

Location..!!

here I have chaps. Easy to take off and pop in the frunk as weather changes.:ohyea:

I as a Briton, read this with a smirk! Here pants are what many of you might call boxers, but generally the tighter cotton, budgie smuggler variety and chaps are only worn by Village People wannabes! The only place you might find chaps outside of a gentleman's bedroom or a certain type of gentleman's club is at a HOG meeting where they will be worn by a hard riding accountant from suburbia called Gerald whilst he manfully downs in one his Earl Grey tea...with lemon of course!

Yeah, I've been corrected by my Brit friends. They're not "pants" but "trousers" there!

My take on this is I want to wear something that protects me not only from a spill, but also from the weather. Chaps just don't do that, and if you land on your butt it will not work as road rash protection either.

This is what I use.

With full length zippers on each leg they are very easy to get in and out of.

I have never been a chaps kind of guy. Just never cared for the looks. To me they have always made some kind of statement that I Don't want to make.
Reminds me of the Village people or something. Anyway to each his own. Just my opinion. I am sure the protection would be good as long as your not sliding on your behind.
