• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lifting up a Spyder

I have been looking and reading threads for a while. I am doing my first oil change and now to get my Spyder up in the air. I am thinking of driving the front two wheels up onto my car ramps and lifting the back of the Spyder with my trusty hydraulic floor jack, then placing the wheel on a save stand.
Is it ok to jack the back at the bottom of the shock?

Well..!!

It is nice to have it up a bit but not necessary for the oil change. If you lift it from that area place a block across the mounting bolt and support then lower it on some blocks under the tire.. Don't be dribbling oil all over...:roflblack::roflblack:
 
That works perfect depending on what you are lifting it for. When I change the oil I use my jack on the frame to lift the front end and then put the car ramps under the front tires, but facing the wrong direction so that the ramp isn't in the way so much. I lift the back on the swingarm just in front of the rear shock mount.

ANSWER to lifting up a Spyder

After I cleaned my garage out for the first time and officially welcomed summer;), I thought, "what the heck". I pulled the Spyder into my clean garage, placed my two plastic car ramps in back of the two front wheels, and backed up the ramps as nice as you please! This leaves the ramp up the the vehicle ramps out front of the Spyder, out of the way. I jacked the rear wheel almost up off the ground, which leaves the Spyder almost level, leaving the back tire on the ground for stability. BTW, jacked up via the rear swing arm with a block of wood between the jack and swing arm. This looks like the easy and safe way to do it.
Very pleased with the result.

A big ROGER on that one! I see the shock mount is solid for mounting a shock not for jacking up the Spyder. Good reminder.
