• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Stranded on hwy transmission out

Called the dealer this morning and sure enough as promised, Danny from BRP got there first thing when they opened and Danny plus 2 other techs are working on my bike. They have the clutch removed. No word as to the cause of the problem. Hopefully I will know this afternoon.

I hope they have it fixed quickly for you. Please let us know what they find.

I wonder if the warranty pays as much as the dealers labor rate? Maybe the dealer is loosing money doing warranty work and "non-warranty" pays better. I know my dealer threw a fit about 2 extra screws that had to be removed to get the frunk off for the latest 13 recall, the 2 extra screws were for my Spyderpops bump/skid. They told me that if it took extra time I would have to pay. I could see that if they had to remove the whole skid plate but it was 2 screws.
What an ass you dealer is.

Most service managers, I expect, will at least mention if something you've added interferes with the factory setup. My Honda SM commented that the handlebar extenders I added on my Goldwing made for a pretty tight cable when they replaced the handlebar switch unit.

I'd like to P.M. you about something that may or may not help you to recover some $$$. Something on a similar level happened to me when my '08 was under 12,000 miles; I was the original purchaser.

Okay I will check my PM's tonite, headed out to dinner and stopping by the dealership to see the progress.

BRP and their dealers are new for the most part. They don't realize that in the 2 wheel market A dealer does what ever is needed to get a traveler back on the road. BRP needs to contact this dealer and let him know the "rules of the road" so to speak. Heck, they should contact all the dealers about it. Tom :trike:

Bike is done, Danny @ BRP would not divulge what the problem was. He just said it was fixed and the problem will not occur again. The dealer covered the towing difference. He said he could not say anything for confidentially reasons. So it leads me to believe it was a software issue as no parts were ordered, well at least no major parts I'll be picking it up shortly.

Guess he doesn't know that is not going to satisfy us. ;) Glad it is fixed though!!!

Confidentiality reasons... is the bike governed by HIPAA now...evolved into sentient beings with a right to privacy? Maybe Bob D's avatar isn't that far off anymore...:roflblack:

Glad to hear the problem is solved. :agree:x2--What's with all the secrecy? It makes me wonder what in the heck is going on--:dontknow::dontknow:

I better get out of this post--I hear a chopper flying over. :yikes: :roflblack:

what

what is such a secret about what they did, it will come out sooner or later. even worth a 20 to the mechanic to see if you could get any info

Here we go again with all the secrecy and BRP half truths. Why can they not just be upfront about it.

The bike broke down. It was fixed. The repair order should show what was done. Its the OPs bike but I would have been a bit more demanding about what was done to MY bike. Nice that its fixed and all but its MY right to know when work is done on something I own. Guess others feel differently. Also if no parts were replaced and it was slipping that badly for that many miles, I would want a new clutch or a written BRP agreement to cover it for a VERY long time. Damage was done and he paid for a new bike.

My guess is that something was misassembled inside the clutch and it was simply a matter of fixing it.

A software issue would likely affect all Spyder and like SAPD911 alluded to, if a part was defective, they would have had to replace it.

annoying

this is annoying to me, how do i know they fixed the bike, did they not find a problem and just said it is fixed. if my kid was sick and a Dr. saw it alone and said the kid is all better but don't ask what was wrong with it, would you accept that as a answer. Grrrrrrrrr it's my bike and i want to know what happened. if this happens to someone else will they tell the other person the same thing, did they know what was wrong and bring a part with them, pretty strange that a tech would fly in and fix the bike and not say what went wrong. sounds like PROTECT OUR REPUTATION AT ALL COSTS to me. the more i read about BRP the more i wish i had enough money to buy something else

I am under the impression that the 2014s warranty includes roadside assistance, even without the BEST warranty (although i also got the extended 2 years Best warranty with my Spyder). Am i wrong????

Cruzr Joe
First I've heard of it. It would be interesting to know if the ones without BEST include it. Good selling point.

Not sure if they reserve the right not to tell me. Not sure. I just want to make sure it's documented of the fix in case it happens again. I smell a fish though and I believe that it is something they already knew of. Someone doesn't fly out the next day like that unless they have had other problems. Not every spyder owner goes to spyder forums. So it may be wide spread. Dunno though.

I am happy to hear that the bike is fixed and up and running, however, am not happy with the silence that is coming about what caused the problem. To the BRP rep. I say this, people understand that crap happens, the silence about this problem now has me second guessing BRP and to why I believed in them enough to purchase another product from them. If this is how I am thinking what about the other owners like me who have not had any problems with their spyders, are they also second guessing BRP. No matter what comes out of this from BRP I am hoping that my confidence and trust in BRP will return until that time, I don't know what I will tell people who ask about the spyder.

To SAPD911 I hope your spyder now has many trouble free miles to give

AC
