• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Horn Area

Thanks Dave!

Hmmmm... high tone, or low?

I just completed the Wolo install tonight. As always, it is a major improvement over stock. I always forget Wolo puts that stupid cartoon label on the horn that takes forever to get it off (took me about 20 minutes to get it off with no residue). If I had remembered that before I purchased it, it would have been worth the extra money to just go ahead and spend the extra money on the Stebel. Does this company really think that the majority of people buying their horn, really want a label on it that looks like something that is designed to capture the attention of an 11 year old?

Wolo, just leave the label off! :banghead:

What gage wire did you use to provide power to the horn?

I will be putting one of these into my Spyder in the coming months.

Both together sound best. People are looking around for a pick up truck when they hear them. :roflblack:
From what I've been able to find; adding ONE of them, is a straight replacement... ;)
If you add two horns; do you need to add a relay to the equation? :dontknow:

I did and I do not lay on the horn. I will take my chances on this. The weak link as I understand is the switch as the fuse will handle it. The air horns definitely need the relay.

Bill (Nexus),

Love those horns! Which one is that? Did you run a link directly from the battery or your aftermarket fuse box along with a relay?

Thanks,

Shawn

I used 14 gauge, and used the relay. While you can get away with connecting the horn straight to the RT without a relay, you will notice a slight delay when you hit the horn switch (on cold days it is worse), and a few less decibels (you can use a db meter app on your smart phone to confirm) if you don't use a relay. The 2014 RT has a ample space to install the horn and relay; and running a wire (with a fuse) to the battery is very simple.

This was a very easy to do thing.

The pull off covers on the side there is ample room for a Horn on each side
any installation was easy it probably took me less than an hour to hook up these
horns.

I went ahead and bought the wiring harnesses for the horns because it just made it
easier.

This goes to my auxiliary accessories panel that I put in for power that goes directly
to the battery. Over the years I've learned on these Spyders is to keep everything

separate electrically.

On the wiring harnesses to the horns which each carry 30 amp fuse it's basically
all plug-and-play you plug-in the prewired spade connections to the Horn button wires
that you pull off the original Horn.

You then splice in the other two relay controls from the other wiring harness to the
same two wires you just plug into your original Horn connection, that's it. They both
come on together and it sounds like a tractor-trailer Horn because of the 300 MHz.

The others I had on the other RT were of a very higher pitch the lower frequency is
much more attention-getting because it sounds like a real tractor-trailer Horn.

My Wife asked me why so loud, my answer was if you've ever been cut off on interstate
by a tractor-trailer changing lanes and pushing you off the edge of the road
you'd understand why.

Bob go ahead and install the bad ass horn. It is much better than the stock whimpy horn. If you get caught beg for forgiveness!

Where did you put that? I considered putting one in and then decided it looked like I wouldn't be adding enough extras to make it worthwhile. I put one in on my Goldwing, a 6 fuse panel from NAPA. But now I'm thinking about adding a horn and already have two additional wires on the jumper post so a separate panel may be advisable.

On mine the bracket that held the OEM horn was actually 2 brackets together I separated them and put both horns side by side (with a little bending) and spliced a connector to the line in between them. Just keep them pointed down to ensure nothing goes in side. There was More than enough room and it looks like the '14 has even more.

Thanks for info....do you need to add a relay to install properly or can the Fiamm 72112 Freeway Blaster use existing wiring WITHOUT relay???

Single horn should be fine. I have both and have had no issues but some say to get the max out of them to use a relay powered by the switch and connected to battery. I have never held it on for long periods but my dual set works fine AFAIK. And it sounds good and loud too.:dontknow:

Wonder if I can squeeze my 18" and 24" trumpets in that space? I know the compressor and a smaller tank will fit. I'd rather use my Wolo on my MB Sprinter. It has an anemic 60's meep meep horn!

Horn is very wimpy...which one would you all suggest if I want to use the existing wiring? Thanks!:dontknow:

This is how I did my Wolo Bad Boy air horn.
I did it differently than most but did use a bracket I had laying around in the garage. Simple 90 degree bracket and I bet you could find something similar at a hardware store.

FYI, for those that say the stock horn wire harness is too short, this is not true. Simply unhook the harness from the clips on the frame and you get PLENTY of harness length to put it almost anywhere!
