• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Used RT prices???

If prices on resale do not pick up I will be a one and done I will make the best of what I got for 5yrs (4 1/2 left) under warranty and ride it like I stole it ;)

That's the RIGHT idea.... My .000002 cents :)

I am riding mine like she is my first love! I have NO desire to trade her in for a "newer model".
She and I are getting "comfortable" with each other....

At my age, you learn to love a woman in a different way than you did in your 20's, 30's etc......
OK... Maybe I am going somewhere else...
Been married 30 years and take it from there...
Maybe you will get what I mean?
But it's relative :)

Enjoy what you have! The grass is not always greener on the other side..... A new woman always comes with new issues :)
Some you may not want to deal with at "your time in "your" life".
I bet your Spyder is all you need so enjoy her! Don't "dream" about what could have been! Make today count!

Sorry, I guess I digressed a little ;)

My pricing experience

This past November the local dealer offered me a new, out of the crate, 2013 RT SE5 for $17,700 which figured in the current $2000 rebate. Instead in November I bought a 2013 RT SE5 for $14,000 plus $971 for shipping. It had 615 miles on it. The Wisconsin seller wanted to move it ASAP. My nephew bought a 2010 RT Premier last August for $17,000. It had about 2500 miles on it. This is in Idaho.

In October, I got $18,500 on a trade for my well farkled 2010 RTS SE5, with just over 9800 on the clock. Well maintained, top condition, and no issues. Still had a little over a year on a 5yr BEST warranty, with original tires. I was very happy with the deal I got.

I did not trade for another Spyder... nor did I get a single call from a Craigslist ad.

Seems pretty simple to me

Can't change what is. And what is, is pretty obvious. Either enjoy what you have, or be willing to take the hit for the new have to have. A 25K+ spread to have a similarly equipped '14 in my case makes the decision a no brainer. Ain't no way. And not because I can't afford it.

Last April when I traded in my 2010 RTS SM5 with 59,200 miles on it I felt like I was getting hosed. But now it seems like I did rather nicely on that trade.

These things are toys that appeal mostly to a fairly well heeled demographic.

A characteristic of this demographic is that they want their toys new, not used.
This is why the price of used Spyders is where it is and is unlikely to move up unless it starts to appeal to a broader demographic.

Enjoy it.

IMO: One of the best explanations in the thread. I think you hit it spot on.

Hi Dave,
If you'd rather not contribute to the "snobbery"; I know of an excellent 2010 RTS, that would make you a GREAT second bike!! :D

The dealer is only asking $15,680 for it...
17,300 miles on it.
It could use a couple of front tires; the rear was re-shod 2,000 miles ago...
